Re: Current board of E.g.Zaijcek, North not allowed in Olymp

Yes, no one on the level of competing at the Olympic is going to be using boards from 2012 in 2016. That said it is a shame that the competitors are being punished because certain board manufacturers would rather use cheap materials and elementary manufacturing processes . Then they whine that it is...

Enough is Enough!

Can the IKA just pick a kite and board and call it the Olympic Sport already?! Then they can make all of the rules they want. No more production argument, no more 3 kite rule argument. Make all the rules you want and call it an Olympic Class. Then . . . . Give us back our Formula Class you <insert e...

Re: Royal Factory Racing 2012 "the most NOT ready Race line"

I was out racing with my North ltd/Dyno combo against someone with Royal gear. I was pointing like 5 degrees more upwind than him! Don't think they got the winning stuff. Regardless of how they seem to treat customers...there could be a lot of reasons for your upwind...technique..strength...kite......

Re: Nevin Sayre Accident

When I learned to kite back in 2003, my buddies that were veteran windsurfers told me that kiting was lame because all we did was reach back and forth all day . . . . . Fast forward to 2012, while racing in 35 knots and big waves at Crissy, there are a lot of reasons to be a bit nervous. Without a d...

Re: is equal for all?

Its an easy fix, get rid of the production rule. Then anyone can play (or at least try to). If you want to equalize racing with gear, make a 1 design class. The gear for that class would have to come from one of the Titan's of the industry, because they would need to be able to provide equipment for...

Re: 3 kite race quiver for comp - what do you think?

They dropped the limit on kite size. http://www.internationalkiteboarding.or ... Itemid=103 Sorry for my wandering off topic  - back to the 3 kites rule :thumb: I stand corrected. Interesting when you read the rest of the minutes from that meeting, that we could have done away with both the k...

Re: 3 kite race quiver for comp - what do you think?

The box rule is maybe more open than people think. There is no limit on kite size, so we may see kites up to eg. 30 metres. There may be 120 litre boards with a single fin for light winds and flat water. Could there be a board with a 50 cm hydrofoil fin and a Wind-In-Ground-effect hull shaped like ...

Re: 3 kite race quiver for comp - what do you think?

You may find that the wealthier countries can pay for their own design of 50 kites just for their team, with the lightest most expensive of materials. That would kill off the 'production' philosophy. Same with boards, get 30 made for your team. That's why its likely to go to one design after Rio. I...

Re: 3 kite race quiver for comp - what do you think?

Ok, here is the deal. 3 kites is definitely unsafe. Let me rationalize why: As a racer, it is a requirement to have your biggest size (>16). Otherwise if the race committee decides to run races in sub 10 mph conditions, you simply can't participate. This can happen anywhere, I have used my 18 at Cri...
