Re: Pivot evolution

For me I have 2019's & 2017's. They seem to sit in the same area to me. The difference is in the flight characteristics. My friend who is an engineer summed it up. Higher pressure in the inflatable struts allows for the kite to keep it's shape better. Which translates into the intended design being ...

Re: Ventura kite tear repair

Try Caution Kites Santa Cruz. Pete Sheibel is a legend, has made sails going back to the 80's, kite's ever since they started. He used to have a pretty easy mail in repair business with a super quick turn around.

Re: Naish Pivot, 2020 v 2018

I have had 2017's & 2019's. The 2019's are a step up if you can believe it. I would get a 6 simply because, in 20 years of kiting, the Pivot 6 is my favorite kite. It's fast, fast, fast & powerful. Super fun kite!!!!

Re: Inguinal Hernia - to kite or not to kite?

I had a double, probably due to kiting & due to SUPing a lot. Probably I'm also just predisposed to getting them. My surgeon was a kiter, which was really cool. He told me that after 2 weeks the patch is solid & I can do anything. Like an idiot, I went out kiting after about 3 weeks. It hurt like he...

Re: Where Should I Move To Retire & Kite?

Mr. Doe: I'm in a not un-similar position. I think finding somewhere your wife will be happy over the long term is likely to be very challenging. Obviously, whatever you choose has to meet her needs, or it won't work out. I'm more inclined to think a better idea to have a place somewhere in the US ...

Any thought about getting a sailboat, go anywhere the wind takes you?
Sounds great but my gut feeling is it might cost too much and the wife wouldn't dig it. She needs a decent sized condo, apt. we're talking 1 bedroom 500-600 sq feet. She's not high maintenance at all but won't live on a boat.

Re: Where Should I Move To Retire & Kite?

I spend a bit of time in Indonesia (Mostly Bali), it is so cheap and has some great spots. Once you are out of visa - off to Vietnam. Then back to Indo then pop over to Perth.. Then off to Sri Lanka. It's a great way not to drain your life savings fast. I used to go to Maui a lot but you can can sp...

Re: Where Should I Move To Retire & Kite?

Maui is great but the cost of housing is very high. Most condos are over $500k and $500 a month maintenance fees. Agreed. I've spent over a year on Maui. Love it, absolutely love everything about it....but....for me to trade down (significantly lower my cost of living) Maui won't do. It's right in ...
