Re: AxisAxis New Wave vs. Ocean Rodeo Jester (strapless freestyle)

Hmmm?? Jester... the fool, buffoon, clown 🤡? 😂 "Hyperactive, twitchy, and lively". Not qualities I would look for in a surfboard for myself. Makes it sound like it's got a mind of its own and hard to control.🤔 I haven't tried the Jester, but I had 2 sessions on the Duke. Kept swapping with my ride b...

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

Buyer beware! I am an industrial radiographer and I have xrayed various castings from China for client's that out sourced to Chinese foundries. Here's my experience with Chinese quality control. I can be nonexistent. Castings start out like crap, swiss cheese internally (normal in appearance on exte...

Re: Mittens vs. 3 Finger Gloves vs. 5 Finger Gloves

Nothing like mitts for cold conditions. Most guys here use mitts and will easily outlast anyone with gloves or lobster mitts (unless they are full dry gloves).

Re: Channels on a surfboards

Seems like marketing to me. What was old is new again. Some of the channels seem ridiculous to me. Do the advantages in ride and performance of a board with channels out weight the added time and complexity of designing and building a board with channels? Why are there not more boards with channels?...

Re: Board Graphic Delaminating.

If that Mondo stuff says FIBERFILL, don't use it to glue down laminates. You will never get it to sit flat. That stuff is intended to fill cracks and holes. It's pretty good for quick repairs of that nature.

Re: Hung Vu, a kitesurfing pioneer, how did he help you?

Yup. Back in the day... lessons were few and far, limited how to articles and YouTube tutorials. It was the school of hard knocks around here. His kitesurfingschool site and yahoo group definitely softened the blows.

Re: Tuttle box broke

Ya. Looks like it was the basic box mounted directly into the low density foam core. If so, way too light for a foil. Seen much more robust installation on production sailboards for windsurfing fins. Option could be to fix it with proper construction. With a box like this... https://gofoil.com/produ...

Re: Stiff or soft fins for kite surfing

Has anyone ever used a service like?https://finatic.com/

I have gone through dozens of fins over the years sometimes with unexpected results. Good and bad. If you get a lot of water time a service like this seems like a good option to figure out what fins you like best??
