Re: Channels on a surfboards

Seems like marketing to me. What was old is new again. Some of the channels seem ridiculous to me. Do the advantages in ride and performance of a board with channels out weight the added time and complexity of designing and building a board with channels? Why are there not more boards with channels?...

Re: Board Graphic Delaminating.

If that Mondo stuff says FIBERFILL, don't use it to glue down laminates. You will never get it to sit flat. That stuff is intended to fill cracks and holes. It's pretty good for quick repairs of that nature.

Yup. Back in the day... lessons were few and far, limited how to articles and YouTube tutorials. It was the school of hard knocks around here. His kitesurfingschool site and yahoo group definitely softened the blows.

Re: Tuttle box broke

Ya. Looks like it was the basic box mounted directly into the low density foam core. If so, way too light for a foil. Seen much more robust installation on production sailboards for windsurfing fins. Option could be to fix it with proper construction. With a box like this... https://gofoil.com/produ...

Re: Stiff or soft fins for kite surfing

Has anyone ever used a service like?https://finatic.com/

I have gone through dozens of fins over the years sometimes with unexpected results. Good and bad. If you get a lot of water time a service like this seems like a good option to figure out what fins you like best??

Re: Modern wave kite

I remember the old issues with pullies jamming and burning through bridles and /or bridle burning into the pullies. I think materials and construction used for both have improved since. Core uses pullies. No issues with them on my last Core quiver that was 6 years old when sold. I currently ride the...

Re: Sugar / epoxy deck grip

There is probably a reason why most people still use deckpads and wax instead of built-in solutions, but my feet hurt too much from the numerous cuts to think about it. This type of grip has been used for decades in windsurfing. I have used it on my windsurfers and some of my surfboards for kiting....
