Re: Need advice for beginner - kite size

My wife weighs 110 lbs and flies a 19m in 12 knots on a 129/38 board. She likes the large kites better than large boards. As a beginner she'll need a larger kite for the same wind speed.

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

The current high margin target kiteboarding market of middle and high income male 35-55 year olds enjoy mowing the lawn. Everyone can enjoy kiting; however, this recent change in kiter demographic means that kiting no longer attractively self advertises itself to youth and a new generation of rider...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

How many riders actually unhook, regardless whether it's on a TT, strapless surfboard or foil? It seems like most just mow the lawn on a TT, then a strapless surfboard and then maybe a foil. Most riders around here move from a TT to a strapless surfboard before they can even jump hooked in.

Where was this? Did he ask the other kiters if they saw that he was in distress? My guess is they either couldn't see him or thought he was ok. Foil-ers go can get far away very quickly. I take it he was downwind of everyone else? If he was upwind he would have floated to others.

Re: The end of kiteboarding in Florida?

Is there any possibility to create a "private" kite club with a small slice of waterfront access? Something that is too small for condo/house development?

Change The trim. ..below the bar was a past mistake...nobody will do it again...its useless and dangerous
Why do you say that? I think they are far superior to above the bar trims. Main reason is you get twice the "depower". I've kited with them for years and have had no problems.

Re: Kite companies - please stop the wakestyle hype!!!

I second this. I want to see more "mowing the lawn". That's my favorite style. Or better yet, underpowered sloggy mowing the lawn, that what I do best. Kind of like pushing the lawn tractor when it's broke down.

Re: Unhooking for big boys!!

Exactly as I was saying, he's not gripping the bar tight enough and it's getting ripped off of his hands. No, I think he's doing it wrong. I bet he's going too slow which gives a very deep edge. When he starts edging, it just increases bar pressure, but the board is stuck deep in the water. There's...
