Re: Decided to get into Hydrofoil

They are fat foils or medium to narrow foils. Whats your style? Foils have come to a stand still in advancements unless we come up a mechanical, motorize, computerized advancement setup. So pick your weapon Ketos, Alpine, lift, LF, they all work. I know Ketos has many choices to select fins for diff...

Re: Bought a new foil...Spotz2 Holy Shit

I don't have a spots but my new Katos So easy does make that high pitch sound to. I have isolated it to the mast. I didn't want to sand my beautiful finish so I covered the bottom half with clear packing tape. The sound went away and I don't sense any slow down in speed.

Re: Amount of scoop for a DYI foil board

More scoop the better if your are a beginner or early novice. Not only more scoop a thick scoop is good which helps hold weight of front foot and catches you on those downward dolphin dips.

Not as much needed if foiling from a lake.

Re: Cabrinha Contra 13 or Velocity 13 for hydrofoiling?

Style of foiling is one of the best ways to decide on your quiver. If you don't know what style of foil yet, get a simple puller cruisers for example flilte, contra, wave kite as a beginner kite. These kites help on down wind balance as well when learning. When you get some experience then decide on ...

Re: Cabrinha Contra 13 or Velocity 13 for hydrofoiling?

I have velocity 11, it does well at 10 maybe 9 knots. I prefer it over my 14.5 flite unless its below 10 knots. Maybe 13 well beat out my flite at lightwind.

Re: Alpine Foil

I have both 4.5 and So light (When I bought it three months ago it was called So Easy). I think they changed the name because foil is never easier then twin tipping. But I found that So light gets up around 8 to 10 knots speed stable. On my alpine it was 10 to 12 knots. That's only when you learn. A...

Re: Salagou : beautifull French Lake

I like jumping on my foil. I have the So Easy. Are those the same.
Do you throw a loop at the end of the jump like after a back roll?
By the way lakes are nice to cruse in (flat), we have only lumpy ocean here in Hawaii.

Re: Why are hydrofoil boards so damn expensive?? Need advic

You can diy a board and foil setup but, I can swear to you that you would need $700 in materials and, the tools that you would need would break the bank. Then the labor would cost over 1500 at 25 a hour. The cheapest way is to gather peoples broken part and try to repair them. You can even mix and m...

Re: Foil beginner idea, mast without wings

But why take the chance. You would think the added leverage forced on one angle would without the other would create unneeded stress. But I know lets try experimenting with your foil.

Re: Foil beginner idea, mast without wings

I new a friend who started teaching foiling. He decided too take the front wing off and leave the back wing on. That was a disaster. The mast broke right off the plate (I won't tell what brand it was because he bad and got a warranty replacement).
