Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

"I'm going to fly the wing tip right into your hand, just stand there and let it flap downwind of you like a flag and I'll come grab it from you." Then as soon as they grab hold of your wingtip, you run towards them to slack your lines and flag the kite I say the same thing. But I always add : once...

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

Land in a wind Shadow is a good one. Teather with kite at 11, depower and let go of the bar. Run to the kite and catch the bottom wing tip before it hits the deck. Wrap around and object also works Awsome! I never thought to try that teather land. I'm game, I'll try it at least! Wrapping the kite a...

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

wait till you see what a loose kite can do to other kiters. Wait till that ohshit handle breaks or takes your finger off or you lose grip. Being unleashed is very irresponsible the 2 step is rarely a problem. Not going to engage with you, but relax bro. 1. Oh shit handle will not take your fingers ...

Re: soul 12m bridles, first foil kite, please help!

The key to foil kites is the pack down the day before. Watch the Flysurfer videos on how to pack down (I think ozone made some as well). Be very methodical about your pack down. Bit of a learning curve especially in high winds. But the pack down is how to prevent twists. Twists in the bridal are dif...

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

Hey Tomtom, don't worry, your not the only one that rides leashless.
I also ride without a leash (granted I live in a remote area).
I also use oh shit handles to give me the option of grabbing / flagging. It's a great compromise.
But I would suggest putting the oh shit handle on a front line.

Re: Self Landing Foilkites in 20+kts

Takes practice, but I back stall it starting at the side. I used to back stall it straight down from 12:00, but in high winds that can go bad. So now I put the kite low to the ground but not touching. Then commit hard to the back stall and swing it around just a few feet off the ground. Again, I sug...

It's funny how one starts to appreciate kites with less struts - once having done a few valve repairs...
Or.....
kites with no valves at all.

Re: Tube vs Softkite - an epic battle?

You should try the speed4 in deluxe. Not the Lotus Speed4 made by stencils of Speed4 but the first Speed4 series one which is more of Psycho like extension. They only made 8m/10m kites and sizes in both standard/deluxe fabrics. A/B/Z rows only, no jetflaps, no zippers, battens on the LE - really aw...

Re: Flysurfer hard/soft steering line question

So, I'd love for this thread not to spiral into some ridiculous quantum physics discussion of the WAC line. Question: I went through the plan lines, and it seems that the WAC line disappeared around the speed 4 series and never returned. It seems like it's an over engineered and most likely unnecess...
