Re: Disadvantages of wave kites

I prefer riding strapless but watch videos of Robby Naish strapped kite surfing. In an interview, he said he prefers strapped. It all what you like.

Re: Firewire Vader, Fins - mixing front vs rear fins

I just purchased a 5'1 Vader with FCS2 Reactor tri fin config - medium. The retailer recommended the Reactors in tri fin. Im' looking forward to getting out this week. I'll use the tri fin for now, but I always leaned to quads on my kite-surfboards. It's easy enough to buy some quad rears if I decid...

Re: FireWire Evo KiteSurfBoard

I read through all the forums, talked to the shops that sell FireWire...Which to buy, Vader or Evo? There seems like no “best” answer. Like all gear it depends on the conditions and what I’m looking to do with it. I weigh in at 160 lbs / @ 70kg, ride strapless in everything from small to med waves (...

2017 Airush Cypher...Anyone try one?

I've spent lot's of time on my first gen 2013 Airush Cypher 5'6. I learned how to ride strapless on the board and it's been my go to board ever since. I can usually get going on it with my Airush Lithium 12 m in about 12-13 knots..all the way up to my 7 m Airush Wave lit. When it's windy I'll take o...

Re: Right of way opposite tacks

right of way comes out of other wind sports in kiteboarding you want to use your indicator to tell the other guy if you are going downwind or upwind. Keep your kite high if you want to go upwind, keep it low if you want to go downwind. You do this before you get close as an indicator, not just righ...

Re: Wet-suits Front zip or back zip ?

I can't comment on the front zip, but I've watched many of my friends struggle to get in an out of one. Like someone mentioned, what's more important is fit and quality. Make sure the seams are taped if it's your cold water suit. I have an NP 5/4 Edge back zip. It's an average high quality suit, dec...

Dynabar Rope Slider with Redundant Back Up...

My friend's Dynabar rope slider broke and had to self rescue in. To avoid this, I always check my slider line for wear and recently replaced it with 3/16's Amsteel Dyneema (green line in photo). At $1.08 per foot (US) I always buy extra and keep it my bag. But what if the line does break, albeit unl...
