Re: Question from a Noobie

For Belmont you'll be dealing with light winds so I would stay away from 5 strut kites. Best would be one of the modern single strut kites like LF Solo, Airush Ultra, Naish Boxer, North Mono. They are all very user friendly kites. Single struts can also transition well to LW foiling in the future wh...

Re: Europe with kids?

While El Medano would work pretty well for you know that it's not an amazing kite destination, much more windsurfing oriented. The kid friendly beach is a 600m walk from the kite beach. The atmosphere and food are great.

Re: Is directional more fun than door in LW?

I can have fun on my skim with my 12m kite in as low as 8 knots. A big reason why is that it's finless which makes it much more challenging to ride and gives it the ability to do surface shuvits because you lack the power to boost.

Here's some video of the skim:

Re: Transitioning from a TT to a Surfboard! What do I need to know?

Straps are harder to learn with unless you are going to just ride toe side instead of gybe/tack (something that works well on hydrofoils but not really on surfboards).

Your board choice will make a lot of difference on how easy/hard things go to. I suggest at least 19" wide.

Re: Fire Wire vanguard, Vader adding foil?

I know a guy who had a tuttle box installed in his vanguard and some extra glass put on. I tried it out the other day and while it still carves nicely it feels like a log because it's so heavy.

You can see it here:

Re: Kitesurf boards to learn strapless/wave

if you just want to learn before the trip borrow a malibu (longboard) and practice and practice. the shorter the board the harder to learn strapless This is literally dead wrong advice. It's pretty much the worst thing you could do to learn. Riding a longboard with a kite is so much harder than a s...

Re: Eye Protection Goggles

I tried out Spex as they are truly goggles they aren't terrible but where I live with the water / air temp differential I still have fogging issues.

The make you look like a super dork too.

Re: Kite Longboarding

Honestly this isn't very good advice. Even if you have the board available I'm sure you have something else directional that you could be learning on. Literally anything would be easier to learn on. Now if you want to try longboard kiting for fun after you've learned to jibe, by all means go for it....
