Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

As I have very low wind most often, I mostly use the XXL-T, yes. But my results in higher wind and using the L-T are better. As in that wind range I still have enough power going downwind and I don't loose the speed as quickly. Jibing in 9-10 knots of wind is super challenging on a wing vs. a kite ...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

Have never seen anyone drying their wings, never :o Saltwater does not cause mildew. It's not about the mildew, it's about having a dripping wet wing to deal with in your car / storage. Even with conventional wings, it's much easier to dry a 4-5m wing than a 12m kite. You must have amazing wing dry...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

The only thing I see as a maybe a downside is the lack of view compared to a kite. How much does the wing in front of you hinder your view? Are wings with windows better and do you get used to it? Primarily a beginner issue. It's more than just a beginner issue, it's down right annoying having a wi...

Re: We need to talk about this: Pocket Foiling

NASA wings are interesting. Word is they are are terrible upwind, but flysurfer peaks are not all all that good either.. And they work fantastic with a hydrofoil. The trouble with Peaks is that they have like 3m bridals so even when flying them directly on the bridals it's too much bridal to reel i...

Re: We need to talk about this: Pocket Foiling

An advantage of the Nasa Star over the parachute type of pocket kite should be that it can go upwind better. I've thought about the born Nasa Star for this and wondered if it could go upwind. I took my 2m Ozone 3 line fixed bridal kite out in about 12 knots and flew it off the bridals to see if it ...

Re: Cabrinha contra 1 strut 9m vs 11m

It'll fly in LW just as well as the 9m so if you need that tiny bit more oomph then go for the 11m. At your weight I wouldn't go bigger than 9m personally, but you might live in a place that gets 8-9 knots consistently and the 11m might give you what you need to have fun in that vs. slogging around ...

Foildrive has relegated my kitefoil gear to gathering dust, the swell riding with nothing in you hands is brilliant.
Do you hold the controller in your mouth then? :P

Re: Best beginner destinations in the world?

Number 1 thing for making learning to kite enjoyable (after steady wind) is shallow water. OBX has plenty but you already said you'd rather go farther afield so here are some good shallow water learning spots (not sure how the wind is in June though): - Long Bay, TCI - Egypt (Hurghada or Dahab but t...

For those saying Foildrive or efoil is the future... not everyone wants a motor.
The guy did say he's looking for no wind options and unless you live somewhere with decent swell you have 2 options:
- a motor
- dock pumping
