Foildrive has relegated my kitefoil gear to gathering dust, the swell riding with nothing in you hands is brilliant.
Do you hold the controller in your mouth then? :P

Re: Best beginner destinations in the world?

Number 1 thing for making learning to kite enjoyable (after steady wind) is shallow water. OBX has plenty but you already said you'd rather go farther afield so here are some good shallow water learning spots (not sure how the wind is in June though): - Long Bay, TCI - Egypt (Hurghada or Dahab but t...

For those saying Foildrive or efoil is the future... not everyone wants a motor.
The guy did say he's looking for no wind options and unless you live somewhere with decent swell you have 2 options:
- a motor
- dock pumping

Re: The future of foiling

More useful would be the ability to surf when there is no wind. I'm wondering what the best route to take is: assisted foiling or SUP foiling? If you have the $$$ for a Gen2 FoilDrive that's the ticket. If not and you have decent waves just prone foil them. Otherwise get a good dock start pumping s...

Re: Spencer Pro 75L thoughts?

I reached out to MacKite and they told me there was no vent plug in the Spencer Pro 75L. Ended up going with the 4'9" x 26" 70L Starboard Wingboard instead. It's a tiny bit wider but looks ultra stable. I just want the minimal amount of board that I can slog around with. $100 cheaper too. The Spence...

Re: Any lightwind-specific surfboards left on the market?

considering getting back to the lightwind surfboard "plan B" instead. But it looks like - there isn't much left on the market? No more SS Dialer or anything similar-ish? Main goal: be able to go out and have fun working strapless skills with a kite no bigger than 12m when it's too light for a TT If...

Check out the Dakine Phase or Cabrina Code Mk2. Dimensions and price look good at 72 liters (4'11 x 23").
I don't see much in the way of closeouts on those, they looks decent though, not sure about vent plugs in the grab handle though.

Re: Spencer Pro 75L thoughts?

But a 75 litre board is not for stinkbug starts for most riders around average weight I would think? It is typically chosen by many as a "one board for everything" also (too) light wind standup and slogging ashore, as well as high winds. Yes, this is what I'm looking for. I do NOT want to stinkbug ...

Re: Spencer Pro 75L thoughts?

I have a 58L board I have to stinkbug and it's fine if it's windy but more often than not I'm out in about 10 knots. Ideally I'd like a board I could side mount to my knees and my 58L board is 4'8" x 23" and no chance I could side mount that to my knees. My other board is a 7'6" x 20" DW board and I...

Re: Tenerife vs Majorca?

Tenerife ... makes me think it is a bit overcrowded as well... Yes, it is very crowded and very kooky, keep your head on a swivel when near the beach. Once you are out on the water there is plenty of space though. I actually prefer El Medano to Las Americas for family hanging out. El Medano is a gr...
