Re: Ocean Rodeo Rise - Defective Kite and Company (read page 4 for more info from the owner of the kite)

Are people trolling here? Pretty universal knowledge to let go of the bar when crashing but others are arguing to pull it in?? I don't know how people set up their kites but we use long throw bars. When you let go of the bar the tension is released from the canopy and the kite luffs rapidly. The kit...

Ok so I just want to be clear here...you are saying that letting go of the bar before a crash will lead to more damage to the kite? After running multiple schools for 15 years I can say without a doubt that the only times I have seen kites rip on crashes are when the bar has been held in, regardless...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Rise - Defective Kite and Company (read page 4 for more info from the owner of the kite)

Kites are not designed to be smashed into the water at full power, they have a bar system that you release and your kite won't rip if it crashes. It is a very effective system but it needs to be used. Sort of like the brakes on your car...they work great...when you use them. Not so well when you hi...

Check out Giel Vlugt(almost 100kg not a small guy)on Instagram. Posts almost daily and usually in very strong wind. He was riding in 50+kn in Cape Town in Jan 2023. His kites never seem to rip when he does doubles or megaloops? His kites do not disintegrate? Pretty sweet outcome from lending a guy a...

Re: Do big air kites need to be light?

As a twintip high wind kite I prefer a heavier kite made of thicker materials which will last for longer. The only benefit of lighter kites for me is traveling when you have to pack everything to 23 kg. I already have an ozone edge what is light weight as a 5 strut kite, 11m & 3.3 kg. I also had fl...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Rise - Defective Kite and Company (read page 4 for more info from the owner of the kite)

Legit question : how does rider weight equate to potential kite damage on a slam? The power up part after your carcass sinks? Really not sure? I've seen some small riders stuff kites pretty F'n hard.... The kite needs an opposing force to generate lift. Just a kite will drift with the wind and not ...

Re: Do big air kites need to be light?

I heard this on an early review of the first gen Roam A-series. Most 10m kites come in around 4kg. The 10m A-series Roam was just over 2kg. So let's put a 2 kg weight onto trailing edge of the center strut to even the playing field. Do a kiteloop and then when the kite starts climbing...will it clim...

Re: Do big air kites need to be light?

I have not tried other brands light big air kites in high wind but I can say for my Rise it really makes a difference. The biggest thing I get it how fast it climbs and loops. This is great for generating power and amazing for landing out of kiteloops. It is also incredibly fast + responsive due to ...

Mike I was nice enough to let you use my very expensive kite at the beach. I normally don't do that but you were rocking a full Aluula quiver and claimed to be an "instructor". You were talking a pretty big game and I wanted to see what you had so I let you give it a go. In minutes you had already s...
