What's up with Switch Kites?

Been riding Switch Kites for many years. Just went on their website, and stock is low/unavailable on just about anything I want to order (kites, bars, parts). Anyone heard anything? Seems like a dying company. I’ve always liked their stuff, but my confidence in the brand is pretty shaky right now. H...

Apple Watch Series 2...

I am thinking of getting the new one and I am wondering if anyone has gotten a chance to use it while kiting? I can see a lot of potential for tracking sessions, airtime, and fitness benefits while kiting. If anyone has an aptitude for coding, it would seem like a pretty good niche to get an app out...

Re: All new Switch Element 5

I have played with the settings on mine. It makes a big difference if you put the kite on the "Pivot" knot. If you fully pull hard on a steering line, it still keeps some power through the turn, but it definitely pivots a lot more. It is still not a gutless, no-power, turn in its own radius, pivot t...

Switch Element5 11m first impressions...

Just got a quick couple of sessions in on the new 11m. I also pulled a brand new controller3 out of the bag and used that as well (after double checking the calibration of course). I set it up on the 20m lines only (removed the extensions) and flew the first session with it on the more powerful sixt...

Re: Switch Kiteboarding Launches New Innovative Spider Bridl

I was fortunate to be present when some of the testing of the Nitro5 was happening. I am still just an average-ability rider, and it is really cool when you are handed a one-off prototype, and spend a couple of hours riding and evaluating changes. I am putting the obligatory caveat here that I am no...

Re: Switch Nitro review?

Just got out on my 14m nitro4 the other day. Coming off a nitro3. So smooth! Love the new slippery material. The new bridle seems to keep things nice and tidy even during all types of loops. Great job once again! Keep the stoke! Aloha.

Re: Kauai Oct/Nov 2015

I just got back from a few days on Kauai. Rode for a short time near tunnels and it was awesome. Andre hooked me up with a board and i had a fun session. If only i hadnt spent 5 hours hiking immediately before that! Can't wait to go back over and do it some more.

Re: Anyone else riding their motorcycle to go kiting?

I am fortunate to live just a few minutes from Mokuleia Beach here on Oahu. I just strap my board and harness to the box on my KLR and wear my kite/bar pack. All the tuners get jealous of my downforce! Not really. Parking is never an issue. Just have to watch for pedestrians -- all to easy to introd...

Re: Kite Boarding / Surfing in Oahu, HI

If David (white dude with curly hair) is still working at Windward Watersports, he is someone to seek out. He taught me and is a great teacher. He'll work at your pace and is very no-nonsense. Agree with the above. Make sure the wind is ripping for a lesson. Many of the guys teaching are out there o...
