Re: Slingshot Foot Hook vs NSI Foot Hooker

I have NSI Foot Hooker front and the old NSI Klingon back. For front, I like how I can press my foot under it to guide board for water start. Rear one is more something to press against, doesn't need much or any hook over top of toes. My only complaint is that the plastic base breaks pretty easy. I ...

Re: Fastest turning wave/boost kite

If a wave kite's primary feature is drift, then it seems likely that the better it is as a wave kite the worse it will be at jumping. Either it's really good at what it's made for or it's a hybrid that trades off some of its primary benefit for other things. (Kinda like asking which minivan corners ...

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

JNJ is the AliExpress store that started off this monster thread. As far as I understand it, AliExpress is like the retail storefront for Alibaba, which is more about wholesale and manufacturers. AliExpress is more consumer friendly and has the same buyer assurances as ebay, plus most small purchase...

Re: Toxic Water Nearly Killed My Kite Buddy

This sounds like a job for ... Mr Floatie!

Now that Victoria BC has its billion dollar poo cleaning facility on the way, our local mascot and sewage advocate Mr. Floatie has retired. Maybe he could be enticed to move from the Island to the Islands. :-)

Re: What is your Wave Harness

Ocean Rodeo Session 2 with Dynabar slider. From my very first time on a sliding harness, I couldn't imagine going back to fixed hook. Having more flexibility your hips open up is huge, for riding toeside (even more for foiling toeside, as the angle is even more extreme). Some people use a loose wais...

another back line trim bar

A third entrant into the market with trim adjustment on the bar. Assume it is licensed from the patent holder, so maybe we'll be seeing more like this. I really like the idea of this but the extra $ not worth it to me. (536 euros) BWS BenWilsonSurf: Meet our new Blue Chip Bar, designed by R3-Designs...

Re: What is your wave quiver?

Kites: BWS Noise Pro 6m/8m/10m/12m Plus Ocean Rodeo Prodigy 5m for the super windy days and Flite 17m for the lite ones. I believe one wave kite is probably as good as another, but I ended up with BWS. I am happy with them for drift and easy flying and low bar pressure for my elbow tendonitis. [if a...

Re: Tip of Foil Breaching Surface

I'm no pro, maybe 25 sessions ahead of you, but a few thoughts to add. I was going to ask too about full length mast, but I see you answered. This gives you more room to play with in chop. I am nearly always in chop and my board is normally only 6-12" above water surface, so when you hit 2' chop, wi...

Re: FoodSaver Vacuum Seal Bladder Repair

A buddy has done it. His report "Yes, foodsaver worked. If bladder material is degraded from age, probably won't last. I have repaired a 12 in seam and strut tips. Still holding. Material has to be super clean and dry. Aqua-Seal patch works as well." I thought he was crazy, no way I'd trust this ......

Re: Is it possible to kite a surf-foil?

12-23 kmh is 6-12 knots. I'd guess 6kt is about the speed someone could paddle fast on a sup -- so even without wind or waves, you could probably paddle this onto the foil and pump it stay up on foil for at least a little ways. 12kts is about as fast as you surf on a decent wave. I think this highli...
