Re: Helmet with half Visor

I have used the gedi half visor. Great idea but didn't work all that well. Really distorts vision. I ended up going back to sunglasses.

Re: Wheeler Wonder?

Thanks for the link. Interesting to flip through the photos to see the evolution in products since starting in Sep 2016. Also fun to see the machines and equipment used in a garage operation. Simikar to stringy wings, i think the only secret sauce here is that simple works just fine. For free ride n...

Re: Bloody onshore dumping wave combo.

that sounds so frustrating! I haven't exactly experienced that, but have had a variety of issues with needing to get outside kelp beds. In some goofy situations like this, I've thought about getting the foil out to deeper water by other means ... like swim it out with a surfboard and tie it off to s...

Re: Chinese KB Hydrofoil : 300 USD + shipment

Looks like in 2018 RE wants a piece of the hydrofoil cake as well. They now have rebranded Slingshot Hover Glide foil on offer http://www.rideengine.com/GEAR/surf-foil/Futura-Surf-Foil.html and it looks very similar to this Chinese knockoff with less sexy paint job if anyone is interested https://x...

Re: Tips for blunting up mast and foil?

What's the worst that can happen? KIDDING, don't use a grinder! I may do the same for sup foil, I'd think sandpaper or file and some patience.

Re: Wave surfing swell with kite hydrofoil

I have been kite foiling a while, about to get into SUP foil too. I think you'll find the kite foil doesn't give enough lift to be able stay up on the foil at surfing speeds. Though I've never tried. The big name in SUP/surf foil is GoFoil. Wing looks quite large in relation to kite foils, much more...

Re: Trinidad&Tabago

Great tips Jerome pigeon point is a great set up. I was a month early though. ...marginal wind. Had some fun sup waves on the reef outside. And at Mount irvine. Brett at radical sports tobago is an immensely helpful resource and a really nice guy. 5 star rating! I stayed at cornado hotel....Closest ...

Re: When it's windy....

Foiling in big seas and high winds reminds me a lot of snowboarding the moguls. It's not really the best way to use the gear in terms of demonstrating outright performance, but the inherent challenge is alluring and keeps me coming back. Knowing that the twintip or a surfboard would be easier, for ...

Re: Canard Foil

Well, after 10 days of riding in a row, I thought it was acceptable enough to waste time trying that Frankenstein thing of a Cabrinhanard. So, yes it does foil, eventually, it takes a LOT of back foot pressure, needs the foot to be right on the wedge of the tail pad. It is very pitch sensitive, ver...

Re: Low rider or high flyer?

Low flyer. Nearly always ride in chop and wind swell, less likely to breach surface. I rode in the worst choppy conditions yet last weekend, like kiting in a washing machine. At times had to slow right down to point of board falling flat on surface, to avoid breaching when punching through the back ...
