Re: Best beginner destinations in the world?

Could be wrong, but June may be too late season in La Ventana. Yes, as mentioned above La Ventana is not really an option in June. There is little to no wind in June. The season is Oct-Mar and high season is Dec-Feb. In the winter the wind is super consistent, but not the easiest place to learn. De...

Re: Cabrinha overdrive broken depower mainline

Not sure what I am looking at, but I see the power bracket and more line below it. It looks like just the short lower flagging line needs to be replaced, or am I looking at this wrong? I think that is a 20 dollar piece if it is. See video at about 22 minutes. https://www.cabrinha.com/pages/2020-cont...

Re: Outer banks in December?

Will a 3/2 wetsuit be enough? Pretty much the same as other have said. Most likely need to bring a 4/3 or 5/3, 3m boots, hood, and light gloves. You may need all of it or some of it. On a sunny day with winds from the south a 4/3 without boots and gloves will be fine. On a NW cold front day you wil...

Re: Cabrinha Trimlite bar question…

If I an looking at this correctly that is completely normal. That is the thin part of the elasticized lower flag out line. See video at around 23 minutes to compare https://youtu.be/ykP4QXAYOqk They will stretch and compress and rode like that for a long time. However, eventually you want to check t...

Re: Beware Mice!

I would worry more about the cat. My friend lost a quiver of kites because somebody mistook them for a scratching post.

Re: Do wind parks effect winds?

This actually came up another time, so I did some reading of technical journals on this and linked some good studies. https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2378803 I found out that there are a ton of studies on this, and most of these are done by the companies sighting new wind farms. Because th...

Re: cape hatteras in October

The only thing I’d add is a note that SW wind is typically what you’d be looking for to do the Planet downwinder. In my first post I did include a link to all the downwinders. It is a pretty good resource for downwinders and covers wind directions for each. https://kitesurfingmag.com/cape-hatteras-...

Re: cape hatteras in October

Buxton is not a bad choice if you plan to ride flatwater. It gives you the most options in the shortest drive for riding in the sound. Especially in October when you can get a pretty even split between SW (S-SW) and NE (N-NE winds). North of Buxton it is side off in the sound when it is NE. For many...

Re: cape hatteras in October

downside is that during summer the wind is hit and miss so doesn’t work as a pure kite holiday However, this year is more an exception than the rule. This is the worst year for summer wind that I can remember, and that is going back to my windsurfing days in mid 80s. Normally the Bermuda High sets ...

Re: cape hatteras in October

Is there anything else we need to consider coming there? We are coming from Denmark with kite quiver 10-12-14. I would strongly consider bringing a smaller kite. Unfortunately, OBX is not like other places where the wind blows every day at 15-18 and from one direction. Especially in October you mig...
