Now You have made Your point even more clear i make it clear that i took Your posting for an aspect but didn´t adress You personally but the community. Sea You: Kl...

Re: Stronger winds far from shore? How far would you go?

Hi, But it wont change the issue (if we say the issue is to be far away from the shore) one inch IMO, in fact it will make it slightly worse :o As with super light wind gear, you simply go out in less wind instead (and now you are REALLY often alone also :-? ). So you can ride more days, but the wal...

Re: Stronger winds far from shore? How far would you go?

Hi, if You have such a spot You´ll have to develop a good feeling for what You do. The only general rule is "not further than You are prepared to swim"! As i have refreshed my rescue swimmers licence just a fortnight ago i am once more down to very realistic measures what swimming a distance feels l...

Re: Downwind Faster Than The Wind - update

Hi,

You have made it to the NALSA website (news) already.
The news is, that a ratio of 2.8 has been achieved according to NALSA rules and restrictions.
Now that's about as official as You can get with such a great achievement.
You nailed it!

Re: Downwind Faster Than The Wind - update

Hai, The fun bit is that cart speed as a multiple of wind speed goes toward infinity as VSR approaches 1.0 from either side. Downwind for VSR < 1 and upwind for VSR > 1. that´s why i would have suggested VSR = 1, symmetrical foils and a pitch mechanism for a universal (DWFTTW and ATWFTTW) high perfo...

Re: Downwind Faster Than The Wind - update

Hai, Spork, it´s Your great achievment to proof so much, so let me just say we´d need decent definitions of terms to go further. "beta" seems to be arctan[pitch/(omega*R)] where pitch is the distance the prop would progress over 1 revolution (with no load, no slipstream i guess), omega is the rotati...

Re: Downwind Faster Than The Wind - update

Hai, ...The prop will always act just like a prop, but how it's geared to the wheels dictates how the vehicle will behave. Below 1:1 and we have a downwind vehicle. Above 1:1 gives us a vehicle that will go directly UP-wind. Really nice to see You made it to 2.85 times wind speed already! That desig...

Re: Speed 1

Hi, i still have a Speed 1 13, 10 and 5 m² and i really like them. However full depower and further development have changed kitesurfing very much. Below 75 kg You don't want a 17 m² Speed 1 - too large. I am between 65 and 68 kg and if my Speed 1 13 doesn't work with an appropriate board i don't wa...

Re: Fatality in Spain

Hi, sad story. My condolences to his relatives and friends. here i have the babelfish translation of the link given by GTC. I understand a thunderstorm with severe gusts hit the area. Juan Pedro Bermúdez Rodriguez, of about 30 years and neighbor of San Fernando, passed away yesterday in the evening ...

Re: Lightwind showdown : Zephyr vs. Ovando

Hi Franz,

what size Ovando did You use?
It seems not the 11 or 13 m²
