Re: Ambitious kiter looking for a two-kite-quiver

I guess I am now a Pivot fanboy, but I strongly recommend it. The kite is amazingly versatile, although a friend has an 11m and I'm not as happy riding it (I think the leading edge is too thin and flexes too much). But I simply love my 7m Pivot in Cape Town, for those strong summer days and for wint...

Re: Hydrofoil Videos

Hey man! Nice riding with you out there! Thanks for video! I'm the guy in the green NP vest :) Steve on TT. Rodney's learning to go toeside Robert Cook mentioned you on Facebook. You know him? Each April and October, for last five years I've been riding OBX along with Bob and Chicago/Madison/Midwes...

Re: Hydrofoil Videos

I completed more turns yesterday than ever before. I'm realy getting the hang of this thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkuUa175-9Q Interesting video for me, SaulOhio, as I am around the same stage foiling. What is the board, and the foil? I'm about to mount a Slingshot Hoverglide foil on a rat...

Re: Where is good spot to learn wave kitesurfing?

Your info indicates you already ride at Cape Town, or do you only go to Langebaan? If you really ride at Kitebeach or Sunset or Dolphin then you know the conditions well, so as suggested above it's a matter of getting used to riding a surfboard on flat water, then going out in conditions with smalle...

Re: Best jumping tutorial I have ever seen

I agree with Grigorib, Dimitri's video has most of what you need to jump high, that and lots of practise. OR, you can take a 9m kite in 30-40 knots and waves and do this

Re: Drift launch - consistently get steering and front line tangled

Do you absolutely have to wrap the lines up? We drift launch all the time, even sometimes do it in severe conditions when launching at the beach to avoid a sand launch, but always have just enough space to walk back up to the kite with the bar attached, then lift the kite and drag the lines behind i...

Re: Directional thoughts

Holy smokes, Matteo, that makes me feel completely incompetent. I can barely tell the difference between my 4-fin Naish Global 6' and my 3-fin Fone Surf 5'11", but they are on different continents, so I don't get to ride them back to back or in similar conditions.

Re: Oahu Dream Holiday

Agreed that Maui is the place to go for stronger winds, although in summer the waves are generally disappointing. But there is plenty more to do, get a travel guide book.

Re: Flying an IDS kite (two line safety) using one line safety bar

Similarly, I fly my 2012 Cabrinha Vector 12m on my Best single-line-flag bar no problems. I like the confidence that if at the end of a long solo downwinder I am overpowered I can just let it go to the leash, and have done that.

Re: Oahu Dream Holiday

Sendit and Slapsam are dead right in my limited experience of kiting on Oahu in the summer. I took the opportunity of learning to ride strapless at Mokuleia, with encouragement from some of the locals about five years ago, like Felix of Switch kites, even got to watch Tophat ride! Also enjoyed a mel...
