From my point of view the SONIC4 is the superior kite and there is not a single point of the Sonic3 that i am missing, what ever I use the kite for. ladies and gentlemen, please buckle your seatbelts, the hype is on! there is nothing left that speaks for the sonic3, it is dead. long live the sonic4...
thanks @eloico. this is a bit off topic, but i am so happy with it that i need to mention it. i'have found my personal perfect QR that allows me finally to get rid of the above the bar ball bearing. it is the aka 3 by kiteattitude with a slight but very helpful tweak. the aka3 has a ball bearing ins...
hi @alpaia, thank you. i have one boabar in use with the sonic 3 13. to be honest, i test the adjuster every once in a while, but this summer there was no need for it on this kite. it took me quite a while to figure out what lines to use so the boa is tight enough but slides (rather) nicely when pul...
one more thought about new hook designs that address this issue. the ones that use closed metal loops are no option for me. you loose the ability to intentionally unhook without taking your hands of the bar. this is an unacceptable canceling of a feature i often use. if thought one step further, thi...
it happens with all brands and a known issue when using hooks. I've swapped to rope/slider (stealth bar) when had some incidents like this with my clickbar (freeride CL). in my experience it absolutely does not happen with all cl/cd QRs. i never knew this is a thing until last saturday because it d...
thank you @all for your stories and opinions. this helps me to get a look at the bigger picture. some thoughts: is it a problem? for some it is, for some it isn't. for me, unexpected unhooking is a big problem. if that happens to me every 5 years, it is a risk i can live with. usually i can handle i...
the term "foul hooking" sounds to me like the kiter is doing something wrong. in my opinion this is not the case. it is rather the case of "foul chickendick desingning blaming it on the user".
i love to downwind carve unhooked. i will never give this up. also we frequently pass kites that are airborne while in the water. opening QR is no option.
and also, this new hook designs address problems i never knew existed! the loop falling off the hook problem used to be solved. who unsolved that?
