Re: Kitesurfing injuries-knee ACL tears

I completely tore my ACL in 2005 on one of my early kiteloop attempts. Docs have told me that considering my ACL is gone my knee is extremly stable, so I have not had the surgery. I still kite with a brace and have not had any problems, although I only throw kiteloops when somewhat underpowered now....

Re: Kiteboarding Costa Rica?

Check with kitewindsurf.com

I know they run camps down there and have as much local knowledge as anyone I can think of off the top of my head. If you are looking for somewhere to stay and people to hang with they are a good crew. Stayed with them a few years ago.

Re: Kiteboarding Costa Rica?

Two main spots are Copal on the North Coast and Arenal. I believe the main season is North American winter. Bring VERY small kites (like 5-6m) cause it is nuking most of the time.

Have fun

Re: NPX Lucifer drysuit - where to buy, price?

it looks cool. But how you swimm in this one in case you get in trouble in the water? I agree, this is yet another case of form before function. Drysuits suck balls to swim in at the best of times. They took a pretty standard drysuit and then added a whole bunch of stuff to make it look "cooler". I...

Re: Kitesurfing Kenia experience

I was there a bit over a year ago. Didn't really like Diani, was much too touristy and touts everywhere.

Went to Cheshale north of Mombassa, was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. Run by kiters for kiters. Nobody on the beach to harass you. Great food. Etc.

Re: What kites are the heavy guys using, 200 - 240 Lbs Riders,

I am in the same boat as you. 235lbs and I hate slow kites. I have owned a contra C 23.5. then a contra bow 17 - both of these had good low end but were sooooo slow they weren't much fun to fly. Last year I got a Hypertype 15 which replaced the Contra 17. I didn't loose much if any low end and becau...

I was there last year around the same time and had decent wind in Diani. Bring your bigish kites though. As I recall I was using 15 & 12. Another spot worth looking into is Cheshale which is up the coast a couple of hours. It is amazing, much nicer and more laid back than Diani (doesn't feel like a ...

I love mine. Was out on the 12 today for a couple of hours before the gusts got up to 40ish and it got a bit sketchy. They have great low end, moderate top end, very good handling, and are FAST. Smooth power delivery and good jumping. Overall I have found it to be a very well rounded good kite. JJ

IMO you should talk to your dealer first. You can't really expect Simone to have time to answer every question that is sent to him (although he probably tries). If the dealer can't sort you out, then yes an inquiry the the MFG is in order. You spoke with the EK crew (who are first class) and they so...

Great thread Dax. I started a thread like that on our local forum a couple of years ago. The one thing that I would add is that while it is great to ride with other people you need to be able to take care of yourself. At all times be aware that it can go tits up in a second leaving you with a long s...
