Re: KF wing

Hydrofoiling does seem to have the potential for someone to stumble upon something that defies logic and just works.

Re: Three or two straps for freeride?

Well... I've had a total of 2 hours learning to ride a foil and the last 30mins was with the single front footstrap. I much preferred it but those last 30 mins were in much easier conditions (flatter water).

I'm no expert :) just my preference!

Re: Aluminium Casting Parts for Foils

What you're saying about moisture is spot on if the moisture can't escape. The internal pressure builds up and crack! I think it's more that if there is too much moisture and it is suddenly heated to 600degC when you pour in the moulten aluminium then it can turn to steam so quickly and expand viol...

Re: Three or two straps for freeride?

I've had 2 goes on my Moses Fluente on the T40 board... I really didn't like the "Y" footstrap config although I'm told it's good when you get the hang of things. I did this... x_Footstrap.JPG Much preferred it. 242mm centres to fasten to the board (might vary from board to board though!) For a sing...

Re: Aluminium Casting Parts for Foils

Good DIY skills! I think you need to be careful with using damp sand when casting aluminium... I think if there is too much moisture in the sand it can get superheated and turn to steam when you pour in the aluminium... The rapid production of steam can be explosive. Just from memory of googling alu...

Re: Which foil kite for light wind foiling

I have 19M speed2 experience from years ago. That was always like building a science project kind of event. Great quote! I had a very quick go on a Flysurfer Sonic last year and was really impressed. Foils have come on so much in recent years. You could always just get a Flexifoil Blade 4.9m... You...

Re: hydrofoil vs. aerofoil

I would agree that there is potential for gaining benefits from fine tuning on the fly. I think it might be more complicated than just changing the AoA of the main wing though. I think you might have to change the AoA of the rear wing too and possibly things like mast position and fuselage length to...

Re: Matte or Glossy ?

Missed the opportunity to sand just one side of the main wing and see if it wanted to roll to one side all the time :D

Re: hydrofoil vs. aerofoil

I think one of the greatest challenges with kites and hydrofoils and any other kiteboard is that it is very difficult to measure performance in any quantitive way... Almost all appraisal is done qualitively and this is always then blurred by whoever is doing the appraisal. I suppose flat out speed i...

Re: Kerfing to introduce rocker into PVC foam core?

I like it. Yourl be able to do some high speed touch downs without nose diving. What about chined railes for sideways touch downs? Not sure those rails are going to help you if you land sideways! :) This was the technique I was thinking of... http://api.ning.com/files/sFfbQuXCxcn*AcaxXmCyoIIgI9xBH2...
