Re: Ocean rodeo Soul too KB specific?

Yes thanks you all.....As I thought, the OR Soul is the one....So the last thing I need are booties and gloves for conditions just under 50 degrees in the chesapeake area.....I'll prlly need some kind of lid but never used one surfing or diving.... Ref lid: some local kiters here swear by natural w...

Re: Ocean rodeo Soul too KB specific?

OR suits are great but I think you would be better off with a wetsuit for surfing. With all the crashing and rolling in the waves I think you would get some water in the suit, and DS are not as good at swimming as a WS.

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

:thumb: Great kites. The IDS was good but had a serious flaw. The kite would not always roll onto its back like it was supposed to. If the kite was flagged in strong wind and would not roll onto its back it still had a lot of pull. The trick was to swim towards kite to release tension or pull in ce...

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

The best self land/self rescue system I ever used was the Cabrinha IDS system 2009-2013 (when using the Switchblade). This system was amaysing as one could hit the QR in any conditions and the kite would be out cold with the leading edge down and the kite facing you). Because the kite would face yo...

Re: Damaged ribs = Seat harness....help

I would like to know what is the difference in fit or comfort between a seat harness and the Dakine Nitrous shorts? From reading the comments here, it seems very different? I have a Mystic seat harness that wedgies a lot. If i thighten the leg straps to avoid the harness going up I get blisters on ...

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

I don't understand the reluctance to use the safety on a kite. the QR is one of the best ways to land the kite. The reason people don't like it is . . . the lines sometimes get tangled? It is weird why people hate pulling their QR. I'll take tangled lines over broken bones or death anyday

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

Presumably this has been seen by some? Don’t know the windspeed though. https://youtu.be/K5XvVmf1pas Good technique in light to moderate steady wind, but I would not be so confident in high wind. If the wind is to the point that you would have to put sand on your kite to keep it down, then you coul...

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

I will usually flag out in the water if I can. Less chance of damaging the kite and it tends to stick to the water. As soon as you flag just start wrapping the flag line around your bar as fast as you can not worry about how messy it gets, you can sort it out later.

Re: snow kiting - which is better? skies or board?

I always get into my snowboard bindings before I launch. If you have any experience snowboarding you know how to hop around, slide and such to move even when you are strapped in. I know a lot of skiers that switch to snowboarding try to launch their kite first and then get into their bindings while...
