Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

What about those days where you start kiting at a given wind (like 20 knots) but then the wind comes up while you are inside. You are alone and still need yo land the kite by yourself. I would say putting a sand anchor before entering the water is the safest. My question is how reliable is the anch...

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

.you should easily be able to hold the power if the kite is flagged. You haven't kited in truely windy conditions then. I guess not. If you can't hold a flagged kite that is wrapped around a bar, then your only option is to dump the kite. In other words , It's not a safe day to kite   :...

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

Just wrap the flag line around the bar. I don't even bother going end to end in fear of it unwrapping. Just wind it in a circle as fast as you can and hold the bar only, you should easily be able to hold the power if the kite is flagged.

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

That video is bullshit and unsafe and not recommended for high wind. Any learners watching this. This is a dangerous method to land. Don't copy it. I suspect that this kiter has only ever kited in moderate winds and hasn't had to land it crazy conditions before. A lot of what he does is just plane ...

Re: Best gloves for kiting

- Mesh helps for windchill but the durability is shorter. - Thickness helps, but to much gives cramp. - Gloves with bended fingers helps an lot for cramps in de underarms I always go for a mesh glove or mitten where the fingers are bend. The NPX mitten is the most warm glove I've had. http://cdn1.b...

Re: Feedback on Cabrinha's 2018 TrimLite bars

Hi! I'm changing my '16 drifter for a '18 drifter soon as it's quite abused, and was wondering if I should get a '16 bar or '18 bar for it. I normally change my bar every year for peace of mind (and so I have a bar to sell with an older kite), but on 2017 I just bought the 2016 again (TrimLite, fix...

Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

it's all relative, If you are on a 12m and the wind cranks up to 30mph plus you can be in a white knuckle situation.
