Re: Best Sewing Machine for kite Repair?

I have been doing kite repairs for at least 6 years, before that I had been doing other canvas work on my sailboats. Sailrite.com is a great resource for thread, clotrh, tape, and other professional sail-making supplies. Their machines are good, but you may find a commerical machine locally cheaper....

Re: Electricity Static Shock

Considering the number of kiters worldwide, I am surprised I have never heard of a serious lightening strike on someone while kiting (aside for the guys on the beach with their kite down). Does anyone know of any? My neighbor was struck near Destin Florida while sitting on a beach chair. She survive...

Re: New Slingy REV P- line Mtl. seems Different

There are other posts on this subject, but the V-tek line actually twists up and shortens when it gets worn making it hard to figure out the correct length. You can ask Slingshot Customer Service for the correct line lengths. Then you can buy some line and make them yourself. If they won't tell you,...

Re: Any info on New Orleans?

Kiting is a winter sport on the Gulf Coast. If you don't mind riding on cold fronts and you're flexible you can ride about 100 days per year (though some may be on big gear). Other than that, come on down.

Re: New Kiter in Nola weight 130

The local website for New Orleans is www.cat5kiteboarding.com Send me an email and I'll add you the the list. Kiting on Lake Pontchartrain is great, but most launch sites are unforgiving. Better to make the drive to Mississippi. Most days when there is a forecast above 12kts someone will be riding a...
