Re: G10 wing replacement for fragile carbon

What? A SUP set up on your foil board sounds like a mistake, now I am confused. I have seen the SUP wings, they are Massive, so very thick and Blunt edges, but you like the way it sails. Tell us why? Is it something that we should try? Why do you like it so much? I am wondering if I am missing out ...

@Dwight: thanks for the responses. Why did you sell the gong foil if I may ask?
I tried a SUP foil and fell in love. I’m kiting with the Naish SUP foil.

Re: Cloud D1 good for boosting on foil?

Have you tried the Boxer? I went from Gong strutless to Boxer. Making the switch, I was worried I would loose the magic feel of a strutless kite, but I did not. I did gain jumping, range, and better relaunch. I’m pleasantly surprised by how strutless the boxer feels, without the drawbacks of strutle...

Re: G10 wing replacement for fragile carbon

The gong is very high quality. Flawless carbon work. It’s made by sonic composites in China. The large wings are more stable and easier to learn to jibe. The medium wings feel slightly more efficient. I thought the M4 screws holding the stab were too small. It was easy to bend the screws dropping th...

Re: G10 wing replacement for fragile carbon

I had the medium and large wing sets, and stab sets. I never measured speed. It was faster than 20 knots.

Re: G10 wing replacement for fragile carbon

I’m not sure the Gong AOA would help. I owned one. Their stab is asymmetric wing at 0 degrees, best I could measure. While other foils I’ve owned had stabs with symmetric foils at angles up to 3 degrees to make lift.

FYI Gong foil is on sale for 799. It’s a good foil. I wish I still had mine.

Re: Removing struts to convert to single strut Kite.

Fly it with struts deflated. If it doesn’t flap and flies ok, then I’d cut the struts off. Weight is everything if it flies ok without the support.

Re: Cabrinha Drifter - secret boosting weapon?

The power delivery is wrong for boots on the Drifter in my opinion, although I have not tried the 2018 to see if they changed it.

Re: below the bar trim

Get rid of it. Try releasing the safety in a panic on that SS below the bar system......it doesn’t release when you grab and “grip” the release hard.

It only releases if you allow the cleat to slip through your hands.

Re: Apple Watch Series 3 GPS + Cellular

My guess, is how the stock sport band fits you is key to it staying in place. I’ve been kiting with sport band for two years. Mine fits with plenty of extra strap tucked in the slot. It may not look secure, but when you try one, it “feels” more secure than any watch band I’ve used.
