Snowless winter

Well. After a no snow winter in the PNW I ended up making 6 boards for myself and friends. Some boards saw limited use here (due to winter), and some have gone to Mexico for rides. All riders have really been enjoying the ride of the board so it appears things are working. In the fall I had some bon...

Paint Bonding Issues

I have had three boards delam this summer. Bummer. Originally thought the delam was because of a poor bond with the polyurethane rail on my boards, but with the latest delam I see that it is a paint to core bond issue. I am using Liquitex acrylic Basic and Heavy products. All colors seem to equally ...

Re: Pneumatics

Rode the board today for a 3 hr session, again really like the product. As well as the three friends that I know need to make variations for that rode a second board that I brought with me. So things are good with the process. As for the questions: I did use a layflat fire hose 12" - which is too na...

Pneumatics

So, back in March my vacuum press motor seized while pressing a board, having never had good luck with the vacuum I drank some beer and immediately started working towards a pneumatic press. I followed the instructions from the "Happy Monkey" blog and it works great! I am four boards in this summer ...

Re: Adjustabke rocker table; how to?

The rope is a cheap breather/airway for the vac process. Good luck.

Re: Adjustabke rocker table; how to?

Larse, This is what i came up with for an adjustable rocker table. I was tired of creating different blanks, and made this up. Seems to work really well and wasn't too expensive. I used 2x4 1/8" steel for the 3 6' stringers. Then have 1"x1" crossmembers at 32" wide to adjust the rocker. On the 2x4's...

Re: air bubbles

Thanks BWD. Same issue for me with hot coating, fisheye spots are bountiful on the board. Not really sure why and eventually said forget it and took it to the water. The board rode so well that I already have two other cores nearly ready - rails are poured and want to replicate the smooth ride of th...

Re: air bubbles

Quick update. I did lay the board up in one shot, did use breather on the bottom, and in general things worked out. Had some air leak issues with my vac bag connections (never had that before), and overall really like the ride of the board. Made and error on the profile table and the core was too th...

Re: air bubbles

Not a smart man... All good feedback and I think pointing the right direction for success. I started this process a couple years ago just reading all your post before I jumped in the game. And was not sure why the bubble problem was happening when it seemed no one else really had it. Agree that it i...
