5th Element on older kites

I've tried a R04 with a 5th element-like bar and I didn't like it at all. The front lines rigged as an "Y" locks the kite too much. It does not turn well. Line lenghs were right (after some testing). The 5th line worked as expected, no problems here. So don't jump on a 5th element bar before trying ...

The waist vs seat harness issue has been debated too many times. The answer to your questions is no answer. A good harness help, seat or waist. Which is better? the one you feel right! The problem is not the harness, is your POSTURE. I know nothing about biomechanics but I think that a good analisys...

The word here is center of effort. The rear foot pressure depends on how much board (edge in fact) and fin you have on the water. Flat rocker, parallel outlines and big fins increase the " ride at the back" feeling of a board, rail shape and stance have they role but is a bit more complex to analize...

The 14 should be a replacement for the Fuel 13. The R4 12 is an option too.

I agree with Toby, Brasil is the right choice. The west side, Ecuador, Peru and Chile has some great points, specially for surf. Very interesting trip just to visit the precolombinean culture places. But for kitesurfing, good wind, infinite white sand beaches and fun there is no place like Brasil. Y...

Buzios is the right place to stay with your girlfriend. Arubinha is a perfect place to take lessons and to kite. You need a car in buzios. Renting at the airport is an option (better cars). Taking a transfer is safer. Rio is not the right place to get lost but you could still go by car. (I always dr...

It is a great kite, jumps well, very stable, excelent light wind performance. Cons? none but: powerfull and not very depower-able, not a fast kite.
range for me (80kg) 10-15kt.
I have a R4 20 now and it is no way more fun that the R2 18, just a good big kite.

If you want to use the same bar with kites of different size/brands, the 4 lines equal setup is the right one. If you need some adjustment, play with the lengh of the kite pigtails.

Don't worry about the specs, amsteel is a high quality rope that is more than adecuate for the application.
You 5th line attachment point will never see enought tension to elongate this rope.
The"weak" link is the kite line. Any good quality spectra line will be ok.
