Re: Switchblade v flite 12m

Old TT lawnmower here. I have an older 9m switchblade (just upgraded with a 10m ocean rodeo hl crave) and I have also been flying an ocean rodeo 12m flite for 3 years(which replaced an old 7 strut 11m cab crossbow pig of a kite). This may not be quite the comparison you are looking for but I think t...

A kite's useful life expectancy

I think one of my main goto kites is finally coming to the end of its useful life. Its a 2013 9m cabrinha switchblade that has served me well for 8 years (maybe 40+ days/year) with no leaks or repairs other than a few pinhole patches. It has been well treated and I had forgotten how old it is. This ...

Re: What's happening to Flexifoil?

First time I saw kiting was mid to late 90s, Lou Wainman and Elliot Leboe taking turns on a 2 line flexifoil blade and booted wakeboard at the hatchery, oregon. They would take turns, switching while in the water, board and kite on the fly to the lee of the point. Watched in awe as Lou lofted a quad...

Re: Cabrinha bars

I’m a bit anti canrinha bars now. Loved my 2016 trimlite Newer 2019 trimlite 48-56 not so much. Bigger issue at this point is I need a replacement centre line and the place I bought it from says it’s not In stock. Many other stores the same. Fine. I get it - times are strange. That said canrinha wo...

Re: Next Gen Mako - Timeless Design

This past weekend at an OR demo at our local spot I saw a 5'6" custom mako with surfboard construction, 5 fin options and slightly wider hips on tail and bamboo bottom and same mako concave. The OR rep said it was not in production. Looked interesting.

Re: Self landing onshore gusty winds Maui

I was in that same predicament, dying wind at the same spot about a year ago. I thought I could land my kite on the beach and give the high steering line a tug to turn the canopy. Might have worked but my depth perception was off (no glasses on) and I put my crispy new 7m down just a few feet too fa...

Re: bad drift launch

Thank you for all the constructive input and um... not so constructive input but I get your points regardless of how harshly you express your feelings. I thought about my bad drift launch and "dumbass" decision to launch for over 8 months before posting here. I knew I'd get a drubbing here but that'...

Re: bad drift launch

Kite is a 2010 7m cabrinha convert. Canadian, Pacific Ocean, wind swell, Sunny, sideshore, 100 metres out from anything else, on sandbar, kite was cross wind of me initially, leading edge down when I set it adrift. It happened very fast (of course) and its possible (likely?) I pulled on one side of ...
