Re: Wave Riding with a Foil Limits

The question of optimal foil speed depending from wave size is interesting here. Actually I use also a fast semi-gun surf for powered wavekiting, perfect when waves are starting to get higher than overhead. So maybe my fast Spotz (freerace wing+105 cm mast) could also fit for foilkitesurfing in good...

Re: Wave Riding with a Foil Limits

Nice waves on the video! The ride looks like some high speed down-the-line kiting with a couple of timid backside turns. Did you try some frontside surfing with your long mast/high aspect wings? On our wave spots in France, surfers and windsurfers accept you much better when you start to surf the wa...

Re: Seat harness for Hydrofoiling. Which are you using and why?

Dakine Vega, light and comfortable. I even use it with my surf for wave sessions. Several foiling friends adopted it lately and are happy with. this. good balance of structure and weight. I recently went to the windsurf version which is identical but without leash pass on the ass...little less weig...

Re: How often do you swim in @ <10knots ?

As said above, the new racekites are incredible light wind machines. Two weeks ago we started with 10-12 kts, very steady ocean-quality side-on, that gradually diminished to nothing. Really, at the beach it was between 3-4 kts measured and barely perceptible at all. The last kites falling down were ...

Re: Parlier Takes KiteFoil World Title While Mazella Grabs GoldCup World Series Crown

Congratulations for the first world title of Anais-Mai! Daughter of a good friend, I witnessed her very first steps in kiteboarding and snowkiting during family vacations. Later, I remember how hard she pushed learning the foiling air jibe, she must have fallen a hundred times during a shared sessio...

Re: Nico Parlier finishes off with a perfect score in Hyeres champagne sailing conditions

Nico has a special talent for foiling. Maybe I have already told the story: It was a couple of years ago, I was blessed so I did not participate in the French Championship final event in Wimereux as a rider but helped in the security boat the non-kiter security staff, knowing how to handle kites in ...

Re: WindFoil - KiteFoil

Have not tried the windfoil yet, but I think that there is a serious problem that will limit it's use in light conditions: you can not obtain the same power stroke by pumping a windsurf sail than by working a kite, which will limit both the waterstart and early foiling.

Re: How has foiling improved your normal riding?

In addition to duck tacks, I never did heelside downlooped jibes on my surfboard before foiling: now its a nice move to quickly catch a suddenly good-looking icoming wave while riding out. You move the kite to 11h, switch feet and right you slash your first cut-back on the crest!
