Yes, please take lessons if they are available to you. They are well worth the money. I didn't have the opportunity to take them so had to learn by myself. I probably would have saved myself a lot of time and headaches.

Re: Do it or don't ? Learn it by yourself...

I'd like to chime in here. And I apologize in advance for playing Devil's Advocate... I Picked up kiting by myself in 2003. Saw it in Portland Texas the previous year. Bought an Airush Trainer kite plus video online that winter. Purchased a Peter Lynn 8.4 Arc in Texas the following Spring and brough...

Re: Any kiteboarders from St John's NFLD?

Hi Shawn, there are about one dozen kiters who kite regularly in the St. John's area. Our spots are all saltwater and all about 20 minutes from the city. We have spots for all wind directions and basically kite all year long thanks to dry suit technology. We also have tons of great surf spots but th...

Kiteboard car rental nightmare

We needed to book a minivan or something big enough to carry my Deceiver bag on a trip to the Tampa area two weeks ago. Searched online and found Hotwire.com. Beware of Hotwire.com. What you think is simply a reservation is actually a non refundable agreement. You cannot change or cancel a reservati...

Re: Average Joe Kite Review - OR Flite 17m

Just got back from a great session on the 14.5 Flight. Pretty powered up in 10-12 knots with 135x147 TT. I am close to 170lbs. Nobody else launched- figured not enough wind I guess!

Re: Kiteboarding in Newfoundland

Hi there, we have about 25 kiters on the Island of Newfoundland. There are actually 3 or so in Gander. Most of us are always up for adventures and enjoy travelling to spots outside our normal kite areas.

pm for more info or simply reply via our website www.kiteboardingnewfoundland.com

Re: Getting in shape for kite trip. Advice request

This is the abdominal video from P90X. You are meant to do it 3 times a week for 13 weeks (90 days). You will notice a huge difference after a couple of weeks in your abdominal and core strength. Just cut and paste. http://ca.video.search.yahoo.com/video/play?p=ab+ripper+x&vid=2b0849864d815ced50d9d5...

Re: The problems of shipping to Canada

Agreed. The problem is not so much the tax but the outrageous "brokerage fees" charged by UPS, Fedex and the like. For a $300.00 kite I was charged $70.00 "brokerage fee". This is not to be confused with the normal tax on the kite. As just mentioned, the best way to avoid this outrageous sum is to s...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Prodigy - All New 3 Strut Freeride Kite

Did a two hour downwinder on the 7m Prodigy a few weeks ago in Hatteras with winds in the 35 knot range. The kite performed perfectly. Never over powered and during the lulls was easy to move around to generate apparent wind. The new bars have the finger moulds and they were super comfortable to use...
