Re: Glide Landing Question

You have it right Rome, gliding is easy, but "coming down is the hardest thing". For downhill landing from the backwards glide position, applying the braking stroke to slow your speed and setup the landing requires good timing and a fine touch. Too much backstroke and you plummet down hard before yo...

Re: Measuring jump height in a new way

Have you ever feel like one day the numbers were quite higher than expected, kind of a hold-up, and some other time, deceptively low according to the feeling. The local guys have found ways that force the device to work better. Doing a deadman 'flick' at the apex of the jump gives a much larger rea...

Yes, Slappysan, that video was definitely at Lake Choko.

Lake Choko at La Ventana

Lake Choko is a butter-water spot at La Ventana for adventurous kiters. It is a four mile kite from the beach at La Ventana or you can drive there on dirt roads with four wheel drive. Bufadora de La Ventana is a blowhole in a reef outcrop part way down, and there is a nice curling break around the p...

Re: The Video Topic - post all videos here

This is from a local session last weekend during a storm. Brian is working on heli-loops, and achieved a personal best Woo hangtime of 10.5 seconds.

I don't know any more than what the article says.
One of my son's co-workers knew him and that's how we found out about it.

Re: recommendation snow kite

An 8m kite is just right for learning on snow if you have some experience. If conditions are icy you might be able to go smaller, but in powder or heavier snow bigger is better. I rarely go smaller than a 14, and weigh 200 lbs also. Your skis are far superior to a snowboard for setting an edge and t...

Re: Hook harness completely broke off

Thank you for sharing your story, because your photo made me realize I connected my short leash to the base of the hook rather than the separate lower hook still there in your picture. A broken hook would have lead to a complete release, and a loose flying kite with a bar attached is a potentially d...
