Re: Snap Shackle problem

I saw a person drown on a foil kite with foil/board this summer, he was using a shackle and could not release. :nono: Really? We do not remember the post about that. But you are right, he did not know/want to cut the lines, or who knows... Most drownings are the result of panic, I'm sure you would ...

Re: Snap Shackle problem

......It's pretty important for people to bring up the fault with that particular shackle whenever its raised on the forum. If not for you, than for other readers. There have been incidents and injury due specifically to it's known fault of not releasing under heavy load, or the bail catching on th...

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Great, Put it this way, do you know how to fix the problem? No? Than open a new thread and discuss the risks. You are highjacking my thread otherwise. What is not clear with that Im not interested in any opinion unless its about the issue at hand? There have been more incidents with having a hook th...

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Pretty funny, You post a pic and question for a shackle with known issues discussed to multiple slow deaths on here since before kites went 4 line. OG's point it out....... as is their duty, and you go all Airbunny!? Yes, funny. You realise many people are using it. And? Shall we educate all this p...

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Tom, Many people are using it including the guy who's competing on Olympics. I have no idea how everyone survived/surviving of all those people who extensively used it over many many years and hundreds of hours. If something is said 100 times it must be true. Right? also, surprise surprise, I never ...

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Hi sarc, are you sarcastic by nature or just by your nick? ;) I do not question your expertise on the risk, ok? And I don't judge. Toby not riding smaller kites in 30-40kn? Who am I to judge? That is HIS risk assessment (we all know that as a fact so...) This shackle is acceptable for the purpose. T...

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Thanks Toby,

as said, we know the risks. I'm looking for the solution of minimizing it. Don't be fooled by the above, it CAN open. The condom CAN break ;) The elimination of the risk is not to have sex at all :) :) Minimizing it is something else.

Re: Snap Shackle problem

Thanks for reply,

many are using it, wichard one is $90-100 here, multiply this with a few bars. wichard one can release too.

It wasn't accidentally released but with too much force, hence pin ejected, and spring lost.
