Kitesurfing & Mountain Biking paradise?

Name it if you've been there. Can be at different times of the year. The only place I can think of is Squamish, which has incredible mountain biking all around it, and mediocre kiting (offshore, choppy, cold, rocky launch, short season). Mostly looking for downhill, but climb up is okay so long as i...

Re: Chicken Loop Bye Bye?

Without reading all of this - I see no advantage in moving from a standard CL UNLESS you can redesign the harness so the load is distributed more evenly and less likely to pull up - more comfortable harnesses due to better load spread. I don't really see how that's possible - but that's probably the...

Re: Kitesurf-dominated town?

Cabarete for sure. That town went from sleepy fishing village in the 80s to kite-obsessed tourism (and all the associated crime and shit that goes with it) - all due to windsurfers and kiters. Tarifa not as much - most tourism there in July and August is not kite related, though there is a large kit...

Re: Foiling...the next big thing?

Are foils not significantly harder than directionals in gusty conditions? I ride a lake and it's always gusty. Sometimes really gusty. Winds are almost always low. It's very normal for wind to lull down to 7 knots and gust up to 17. It's hard work on a directional some days. I have never foiled, but...

Re: Liquid Force bar throw length?

Yep, okay, thanks for that. Guess that confirms it, but being rather shorter than you, I'd adjust that stopper down a ways anyways, so in the end looks like it would work out about the same. Many thanks.

Re: Holidays in June

From the UK - you have so many options so much closer!! Pretty much all of the algarve (portugal) has great kiting and lots to do for your non-kiting buddy. Look up Alvor. June not quite high season yet, especially if it's early june rather than late. Tarifa, Spain could also be good - great kiting,...

Liquid Force bar throw length?

I can't find any information on this. My wainman bar has 14.5" of throw (according to this: http://www.airpadrekiteboarding.com/kitesurfing-equipment-store.php?category=bars-and-lines&brand=wainman-hawaii&item=carrot-bar ) I recently bought a LF kite and am using my wainman bar with it, and it's fin...

Re: Computer controlled kite for boats

Yes, great stuff. just wonder what the risk is of that kite collapsing or something and hitting the water. Relaunch must be a real bitch... Relaunch will be one of the easier problems to solve I think. Unlike regular kiting - you don't have to launch with 4, 20m+ lines. If my idea works out - it'll...

Re: Computer controlled kite for boats

As software engineer I would first build a simulator with expected sensor data and evaluate if correct steering inputs could be made. Like agile development what sensor are needed and where (at kite or at boat). Then if everything works I'd start planning actual hardware. Not vice versa. I prefer j...
