you could also use dyneema or spectra hollow braid rope which comes in colors . Maybe 7/64. It opens up easy.

I am doing it and using Amsteel line for the depower . If you are handy you can save a bunch of money. See these how posts:

I also windsurf . If it is over 20 knots I often prefer windsurfing. Way more workout than kiting IMHO. At least for me in big wave in the ocean. I also can't get a workout in the gym equal to in the ocean. I would have heat stroke. Something about pulling up on the pump really aggravates a disk pro...

My Home Depot kite pump

I put this together with parts from Home depot. It uses a $40 Roybi pump. I would say it only is cost effective if you already have some Ryobi batteries laying around.
