Re: Women's Impact Vest Advice

I started kiting about 10 months ago and still use the Dakine Vest: http://www.dakine.com/p/windsurf/harnesses/surface-vest The vest comes in XS and up and fits both a seat or waist harness. It has two layers of pads which I removed one layer and a whole roll at the bottom through a small cut. I am ...

Re: Bar for shorter arms?

I am petite and had the same issue. I decided to first try the seat harness instead of a waist which helped a ton; next I invested in the Naish Women's specific bar which I use with my Kahoona kites and it is easy to reach the depower and I actually took the stopper ball off to get the perfect throw...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

What did I miss... Hate hearing half a story. This story doesn't need to be told... so there is no half story just the result of bad attitudes at the beach. I was there and it was busy - I got taken out by a kook myself that day but I didn't get all in his face. We untangled and resumed our session.

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

To add fuel to the fire to this problem -- yesterday an incident which resulted in bodily injury to a kiter by another kiter at Naish beach left me in disbelief that two adult male kiters can be so stupid and raise more issues and reasons to close our access to the ocean here at Kanaha. I spoke to t...

Re: Kaa Point shark bite - link

It is very sad that the kayaker killed this past week by a shark was a fellow windsurfing buddy. He was an outstanding fisherman as well as a strong and experienced wave sailor. Shark tagged 69 has been very prominent in the Makena area and after speak directly with DLNR, could be the possible kille...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

The latest... Thank you for your concern, I apologize for not responding sooner and yes, I have been inundated with numerous phone calls and emails regarding the use of Kanaha. We are open to an amendment to the rule, but until such time we will enforce HAR 13-256-130 . With the amount of time I hav...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

I got a reply from Stacy Masuda. The content was essentially the same as the photos posted here of signposts defining zones A, B and C. So it seems like hardly any change for kiters but the poor windsurfers have lost their best launch area. I used to launch from what is now part of zone B in my win...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

I wish people would stop going overboard... It's a little inconvenient and not very fair but these new rules won't bother anyone and their kitesurfing vacation to hawaii. Chances are no one will enforce the rules and in no time it will be back to normal. We wish that were the case, but having direc...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

My observation of the restricted zones is that multiple lanes can cause confusion and congestion. If this ever goes to a consultation you might want to look at creating larger zones but fewer of them....ie keep all the kiters, windsurfers, etc up one end with the bathers at the other end. It'll be ...

Re: Maui Kitebeach to be banned !

Swim zone B takes a big chunk out of the windsurf launch... Exactly and all because of a kiter. Shame shame- I kite at Old Mans and have many friends who windsurf at lowers but the good news for them is they will now start to launch from Old Mans and Naish Beach to get to the lowers break be prepar...
