Re: 7, 9 and 12 for a 100kg twintip rider

I would suggest a 10m,12m,17m with a 145x44 board I weigh about 100 kg atm, bu have weighed in at 111 kg in prior years. That 7/9 would be for Cape Town or storms - big ones. On Maui I rarely use a 9m for myself but a 10m/12m are my mains. In Florida I lived off an older 12m and 17m. The Door approa...

Re: Hard Wearing Low Stretch Lines

Naish and Ozone have always had great low stretch lines with a tight braid and are very resistant to wear. North and Best lines (at least 2010-2014) were junk lines that pretty much immediatley showed wear even if you were not using them in a highly abrasive environment. A tight braid with a waxy f...

Re: 2018 North Evo Vs 2017

Overall I like the 2018 - much lighter weight and feel, does great in light winds - faster/zippier - still does a quick pivot turn if you set it up correctly, less sensitive to the kite setting (in terms of Soft vs Harder settings on kite for wingtip attachment point) Main disadv of 2018 vs 2017 is ...

Re: I'll have to change my name now North Kiteboarding is no more..

truekiteboarding goes to north kiteboarding website I hope its not Duotone, what a terrible name. True Kiteboarding, Ion, or even South Kiteboarding, would all be better names lol. I think it will be very difficult for North Sails to replicate the designs, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution ...

Re: Is Wakestyle dead?

I think wakestyle has receded back after being overhyped for abit. THe reality is that most kiters do not relate to wakestyle as only a small percentage can unhook. The specialized gear ideal for wake - boots, C and open C kites, long leashes, etc. are not necessary for other styles or general ridin...

Re: 2018 North Evo, any thoughts?

I added an 8m 2018 North Evo to my teaching quiver back in Dec. Overall I am very pleased with it, super beginner friendly and great all purpose kite: Pros: - Light bar pressure (could be Pro or Con depending on preferences) - Quick Pivoty loops still there (could be Pro or Con depending on preferen...

Re: Piq, Xensr or Woo?

Xensr is having support issue the PIQ forum is loaded with people having major charging issues. The PIQ device (called a Robot) uses a special recharge clip device that then plugs into a USB. That charger/battery device is giving those of us on the PIQ alot of grief. Not sure the details of the new ...

Re: Which brands of kitesurfing boards and considered the good ones?

Nowadays its less about brand and more about shape: Avoid wakestyle boards with massive rocker - as a beginner, this is a nightmare for you. Lately Ive been seeing the market for used boards flooded with older wakestyle boards from 2011-2014; I advise my students on gear purchase and I am not a deal...

Need info for Epic Kites

Hey guys, I need some help with an old Epic Kite, a 2011 Epic Jr Pro 4m. Basically the kite is in good shape but the valves are delaminating. I am trying to figure out if I order via Airtime whether I use their OEM Valve Fix for Epic or the standard Valve Traps for valve repair. Surprisingly good ki...
