Re: A caes for full face?

In this video showing Richard Branson and Barack Obama kitesurfing, Branson is wearing a helmet with something protecting his face.

Anybody know what make this helmet is?

Re: FS Speed 6

Agree strongly with Alexrider/pumpy. Speed 4 8 dlx is my favorite and most often used kite with the foilboard. I guess it is very similar to the hyperlink, just ahead of its time. Sonic 2 is a great kite, but harder to relaunch. And I have a ton of experience in relaunching the S4 8 and 10 dlx while...

Re: sitting on the board to relaunch

I have a high volume board and find sitting on the board for any period of time extremely difficult and frustrating to attempt. I guess it takes a degree of practice. It seems like a really great idea, though.

I just never put my kite in the water.

Re: Who calls LEIs vertical structural elements "masts"?

Mast. Wow, you guys are idiot nerd savants: really! You gotta understand, words are just sounds, what gets adopted is what is. That''s it. QWERTY is not the most efficient keyboard we could generate, but it's what we now have as standard (in English). Mast. And it does support the sail...supports th...

Re: Kitefoil Manufacturing - Alpinefoil Factory

I enjoyed the factory tour. I have the 5.0 titanium ultimate and it is fantastic! I have more than 2000 miles on it this season. The ride is smooth, fast and stable.

Re: What unit do you use for windspeed ?

I wish everyone would use only knots. But, lately, I use: Not much wind, no whitecaps, poor forecast--> 15 m Sonic 2 Whitecaps, moderate forecast--> 8 m Speed 4 Whitecaps, blowing sand, blowing spray, >20 forecast--> Core XR3, 6 m (would prefer a < 6 m foil, but don't have it at this time) Always ri...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

Mossy, I can't ride on my 8 m in 6-10 knots. Approximately >/=10 knots, yes.

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

Mossy, it's just not the case: "...a 15 m is never the wrong choice for 10 knots on most of the production foils available today..." For the past 3 years until this spring I had been riding the AlpineFoil XLP wing, a beginner/intermediate setup. I rarely used my 12 meter foil kite and only on the li...

Re: Alpine Foil 5.0 titanium review

The Sport Wing is more stable. It is much easier to change stance and gybe, despite the fact that I am going much faster. But I'm coming from the original XLP wing. They are selling an XLP2 now, I believe. Also, the low end on the Sport Wing is not as low. I had to get a bigger kite. On the XLP I us...

Re: Alpine Foil 5.0 titanium review

I have this setup too. But I have the higher volume freeride board RX-V5S with the Sport Wing with winglets. This is my fourth season foiling. I started with AlpineFoil's carbon setup with the XLP wing. I have not ridden any other foils, but the first setup got me going and held up very well. The Ti...
