Option B; find a cheap used surfboard and add a couple layers of fiberglass on the deck.
If you find this difficult, or can't make it through the process, don't bother attempting a full-on build (^^;)
At the risk of sounding ignorant - I'm interested in a project like this over the winter here in Minnesota, and I recognize it looks like a lot of work and a Vader or Vanguard shaped MPH may be a long shot for a first board. Where might I start by ordering a blank, what tools are necessary, etc etc...
