Re: King of the Air 2018 - All Info

i'm mildly disappointed they chose to run in those conditions. I understand that it's good to run on weekend, as that's the crowd etc...but that wind-strength is not really noteworthy. It's decidedly ordinary. I would have thought they'd wait for those days when the sky gets a bit hazy from blowing ...

Re: Riders announced for Red Bull King of the Air 2016

The wind has not been very plentiful at all... The classic 5-7 days wind, 2 days off system has not been here. We are getting our winds very late in the day... However, there have been those really strong SE days here and there, so i'm sure the KOTA will find a 30+ knts day. Lets hope it blows, now ...

Re: Cape Town Visitors - A reminder about manners

Thanks to Van Hunk for the original post. It's a yearly post, for a yearly problem. Visitors: Please also land and launch a few kites not attached to your squad of mates. I've noticed at the busier beaches (kitebeach/dolphin) the euro blokes just look away. When on the water, guys will follow you ri...

Re: north evo 2013 vs north evo 2014 - beginner level

If the condition of both kites is the same and the money is the same, then the youngest kite is always a good idea (for resale, hidden ware n tear, bladders etc). I can't comment on the design changes. But i imagine that both should be good at launching off the water after a crash. I learned on a 20...

Re: Need tips on accomodation in Cape Town

I live nearby to this setup... they seem to have lots of accom options. And the guests always look like they are having plenty of fun. http://www.endlesssummerbeachhouse.co.za/booking/ Remember to bring good manners to Cape Town, and launch and land a few kites each session, even if you don't know t...

Re: Balaclava for Kitesurf

I had never seen a neoprene mask thing before (I've never even seen snow)... when suddenly some guy tapped me on the shoulder hoping to get a launch. Surprised and jolted, I thought he was a gimp! But, anyway, he was a ginger (probably no soul), and the mask looked pretty snug and the breathing hole...

Re: Cape Town/Hermanus conditions in April - good for beginn

Hi. It's not likely that you're going to get daily kitesurfing conditions. If it blows, it might just be for a day, unlike peak season when it can blow for a week solid, at high strength. If you're coming anyway, there's plenty to do outside of kite. Watch the wind forecast and be ready to go to Lan...

Is Kitesurfing considered exercise?

Has anyone worn a heart-rate monitor? Can I console myself that a 2 hour freeride in the waves is decent exercise for the day? I feel pretty beat afterwards, but do I still need to go running or something? While I understand that different fitness levels and ages and style will give different result...
