Re: Absolute Poor Spotz foil service - what a nightmare

From what i have seen the male peg coming out of the front wing. looks to be made from uni, instead of a cloth which resists twist like triaxel of even biaxel. The peg has gone like a piece of cardboard where the peg isn't supported ie: joint between fuselage, wing. This is where all the force of a ...

Re: Absolute Poor Spotz foil service - what a nightmare

https://youtu.be/cNM0mkBLsnk This is the video that Jono was referring to just click on the link. Have a look at the torsional stiffness in the front wing, or lack of, this is only after 30hrs or so, with no impact with the bottom of any sort, the bloke wont even put the foil on the pavement without...

Re: Mast profile experiences?

Hi interesting topic, i was going to build another mast and fuse, i was thinking of 12mm thick with a chord of about 120mm.
Not sure on the eppler shape but looking at putting some concave in the trailing edge.
What would be the ideal dims for your mast?
Thanks

flysurfer speed 3 for foiling

Hi guys

Does anybody use the older flysurfer speed 3 kites for foiling? Say a 15m when 8-10knots how would you rate them against an inflatable kite of similar size?
Just looking at getting into the foil kite for something different.

Cheers

positive lift or neutral lift

Hay chaps I have a question for you. With your foil do you have positive lift all the time? I have mine rigged neutral. I was just thinking of trying the positive lift so all the control is on my front leg. Would you shim the front or back wing? I have never tried a production foil so none the wiser...

Re: Sudden deep ventilation ?

Check out this link that revhed posted last September http://www.boardlady.com/fast.htm I think that if the water isn't attatching to the mast air will instead.combined with a to sharp leading edges mast wings etc. My situation traveling at 20 knots the foil would lift 100mm and fall to the side wit...

Re: Sudden deep ventilation ?

I found this same problem with my first carbon hydrofoil. I put a post on here, and was answered. The foil was to shiny and the water wasn't attaching its self to the foil mast wings etc. It was shown on a pic with ventalation the length of the mast. Also the leading edge to sharp, it needs to be bl...

Re: Virginal foil build

Have a look at most all the commercial KBHFs for sale out there. Note the similarities and differences. I have seen and test flown more home made KBHFs that did not fly well than contraire. You need to design and build it well. Denis, Scuba, W F, T D seem to have done well, so can you! Almost every...

Re: New foil build

Excuse my ignorance. But whats the purpose of have volume on a foil board? Surely since the board spends little time in the water it should be as minimalist as practical? Hi Plums As I said in the previous post for the board with volume, I built just a thin get me by board 19mm thick just so I coul...

Re: New foil build

When you talk about volume in front do you mean 1.volume with a large area ? how much volume or area? better yet what is the size of your board? thanks , Pedro If you have a large surface area that bouncing down on the water (spoon shape) it is more likely to stay on top of the water, than a small ...
