Re: Help me understand Cape Town wind on the basis of this Windguru forecast

Any locals that could give some insight on the forecast for today and next week? Wind was predicted yesterday but nothing decent came through, so I'm confused on how to interpret the forecast... E.g. looking at windyty, should we try our luck at Muizenberg today? Thanks in advance for a locals exper...

Re: Cape Town - Drought

Also heading down there in a few weeks and a bit worried. What about drinking water? I heard rumors that supermarkets are completely out of stock and people are fighting in some places as soon as bottled water is re-stocked in the shops? Anyone there right now that can confirm/enlighten me on the dr...

Re: Cape Town Visitors - Avoid killing each other

It's great that the locals have established a set of guidelines that work for them. ... Unless you want to get into a pissing contest about whose rules take precedence and who is a local and how do you go about proving it etc etc, a good old signpost will go a long way to getting everyone on the sa...

Re: South Africa - spot recommendations?

To keep this thread going: does anybody have local knowledge on when Scarborough/Witsands gets good winds? What to look out for in the forecast? Does it sometimes work when KiteBeach does not work, and vice versa? Or just only kiteable/pumping with the usual SE that also hits kitebeach?

Re: 8/9-15 Knots, choppy water, FW Evo, what kite?

Don't get a bigger kite: save your cash to get a foil, and you'll be foiling on your 12 in 7 knots, and having a lot more fun doing so. All bigger kites are slow and sluggish, especially in those low winds. Many have been in your position (including me) chasing LW sessions with big kites and saying ...

Re: Sure bet places for wind?

Good and useful tread. I have heard that Dahkla Marocco is amazing - haven't been but supposedly super consistent in the windy months. Reading a lot about Sri Lanka too, windwise. Although already mentioned, I can confirm from first hand experience that North East Brazil is definitely one of the mos...

Re: RPM gone on the Slingshot homepage

It's from 'Der Untergang' (translated: the downfall) - it's about the Hitler's last days and how the Germans lost the war.
