Re: 8/9-15 Knots, choppy water, FW Evo, what kite?

Don't get a bigger kite: save your cash to get a foil, and you'll be foiling on your 12 in 7 knots, and having a lot more fun doing so. All bigger kites are slow and sluggish, especially in those low winds. Many have been in your position (including me) chasing LW sessions with big kites and saying ...

Re: Sure bet places for wind?

Good and useful tread. I have heard that Dahkla Marocco is amazing - haven't been but supposedly super consistent in the windy months. Reading a lot about Sri Lanka too, windwise. Although already mentioned, I can confirm from first hand experience that North East Brazil is definitely one of the mos...

Re: RPM gone on the Slingshot homepage

It's from 'Der Untergang' (translated: the downfall) - it's about the Hitler's last days and how the Germans lost the war.

Re: Ozone Enduro v2 ? are we there yet?

Just in general (so not Enduro specific), if you ride a fairly efficient surfboard like an Evo, and at your weight, I would go for 10-8-6 and save the money of the 12 for a kite trip to a windy place, or for a foil.

Re: Wind, NE Brazil

When I was in that spot in December 2 years ago for 2 days, everyone was on 10-12's in the afternoon. It was blowing like 16-19 knots, starting around 11-12, but I was told that normally the wind is stronger. Was only there for 2 days so can't confirm if this is true. So try and take the 12 if you c...

Re: Learning on Cabrinha FX?

I think you should be fine - might be a bit more challenging because they have a more direct feel/need to be flown a bit more aggressive but in the long run they are nicer kites to progress on. Make sure you take some lessons first though!

Re: Hydrofoil in 8/12 knots at 80Kg(176lbs) rider what kite size better?

8 knots, 17m for sure. 12 knots, a 12-14m would be comfortable. I have a friend who rides a 17m Roca from about 10-15 kts at ~180 lbs. I disagree - at 75kgs and a 12m North Mono I ride at 8 knots (maybe gusting 9/10 at times). Once we get a solid 13/14 knots the 12 becomes too much and I switch to ...

Re: Where to live and kite warm water everyday?

Cape Town. Langebaan for warm water. Langebaan for warm water? You're, joking, right? It might be a bit warmer than CT, but definitely still cold :shake: compared to real tropical water (as in "no-wetsuit-water"). Maybe Kenya is an option? Good wildlife and apparently also some wind around th...

Re: 2018 Naish kites

I love my 2018 Dash kites. I have the 14 and 10m. The kites boost and unhook really nicely for being allrounders. Definitely an improvement over the Park as the kite provides more feedback and feels a bit more solid. Moreover I can switch from my twintip to my foil when the wind gets light and they...

Re: Recommendations for a January Foiling vacation

Langebaan waters are freezing cold, the wind will often be gusty and howling 25+ knots, and it will be packed with freestylers, beginners, and people taking lessons in January. When I think of a good foiling location, I think light winds, clear flat warm water, and tropical beautiful locations to go...
