Re: 2018 Naish kites

I love my 2018 Dash kites. I have the 14 and 10m. The kites boost and unhook really nicely for being allrounders. Definitely an improvement over the Park as the kite provides more feedback and feels a bit more solid. Moreover I can switch from my twintip to my foil when the wind gets light and they...

Re: Recommendations for a January Foiling vacation

Langebaan waters are freezing cold, the wind will often be gusty and howling 25+ knots, and it will be packed with freestylers, beginners, and people taking lessons in January. When I think of a good foiling location, I think light winds, clear flat warm water, and tropical beautiful locations to go...

Re: Trying to identify model

It's a Cabrinha CO2 from 2005, I recognize the bag.

I wonder if you could fly these on newer equal-line-length bars? I have my 12m still in crisp condition somewhere in the garage without bar - would be fun to give it a go and see how it flies :-D

Re: Heavyweight kitelooping gear

I own a 10m Naish Dash which boosts nicely/easily and is very quick around the loop - won't pull as hard in the loop as a true C kite, but will catch you every time. Efficient kite once it starts moving so low end is good too, but it does truly come to life when powered up. But with your weight you ...

Re: Disadvantages of wave kites

From yesterday's competition, yep, wave kites don't jump :jump: Of course it's the rider, but still, there are wave kites which jump well when powered and land quite softly. If i'm ...

Re: Total beginner advice

I bought a Sroka Freeride set up, great bang for your buck. I love it because the foil itself is super-stable, also when going downwind, yet very maneuvrable and superfun to ride as it turns on a dime. I also had a few sessions on a "beginner's" low-aspect foil, and these might start foiling a earli...

Re: Naish vs Switch

Aaaaand to get back on topic and help the OP: don't listen to the fanboys/haters of all the brands. Just try and test different kites from different brands on a demo day and see which kind of models of kites you like, without staring yourself blind on the brand. Then try and find a good shop near yo...

Re: New Naish Dash

Haven't ridden them back to back in the same session, but I have ridden the Pivot a few times and I think it is more park 'n ride / sheet 'n go type of kite, so probably a gruntier feel and an "easier to achieve"-low end. Dash you need to move to generate power, but once it gets going, it pulls nice...

Re: Boosting higher...what's made the biggest difference for you ?

I recently had a "break through" session where I tried to follow MAC Kiteboarding's tutorial, and especially his emphasis on the importance of taking off/popping. Before, I just released my edge and flew pretty high, 8-9m would be average good jump when well powered up. Since I've started concentrat...

Re: What is your favourite wind speed?

depends on my mood. 15-25 knots on the 15m Sonic FR one day is the nuts... on other days its 35+ on the Edge 10m V9. :o I've been kiting for 8+ years and know for sure that I cannot comfortably hold down a 15m in 25 knots and a 10m in 35+ knots. 35+ knots is nicely lit on the 7 - no way I would be ...
