Re: Firewire EVo versus Vader

From my experience testing the Firewire boards (own Vanguard & Vader, tested Evo): Vanguard (thruster): earlier planing than Vader, easier to ride through the lulls, tracks very well upwind, more stable than Vader, a bit faster than Vader. Chopwise OK, especially if you ride it on its edge. Turns ar...

Re: new 2017/2018 Naish Boxer

Backstalling occurs more often in light winds, so it could partially be a technique thing. However, the 2017/2018 Naish lines tend to stretch easily, resulting in longer front lines, making your kite prone to backstall. How often have you used your bar? If you've used it quite a few times, this coul...

Re: OneEye

One eye is a powerful wave, breaking in super-shallow waters on a razorsharp reef, with cross-off shore winds and strong currents ready to take you out to Madagascar in no time. Even at high tide there is no margin for error - I think you've got about 2 feet of water between your board and the rocks...

Re: Ozone Edge V8 15m

I'm also looking at a 15m kite for summer and the 15m Edge V8 is an option. I'd like a 15m Zephyr but Ozone don't make one so I'll probably go for a 17m Zephyr for 10-15 knots then change down to my 12m Enduro V2. UK south coast (eastern Solent), 82kg, North Select 138/41. I can't boost (the truth ...

Re: Mauritius - intermediate waves?

Although Manawa on a small day could work as an intermediate wave, it is very far from shore, and "too popular" imo. I was there last year and the wave can be nice, but the distance to the shore and especially the ridiculous amount of people who try to catch it without any respect for other riders /...

Re: Naish Dash - is it good for beginner?

Wow, that would be interesting. :D Thanks for the tips! So it is not at all "Sheet in n Go" kite ? It is 9m and 12m hopefully is good for my weight of 73 kg Here the wind is in the range of 12-20 kn, sometimes 25 kn. No, the Dash is definitely not a sheet and go kite. The description on the Naish w...

Re: Naish Dash - is it good for beginner?

What size are you looking at? In any case, If you already know you want to do freestyle and unhook ASAP, and don't mind taking a beating, then OK you could go for it if you're motivated. It is a very direct & super responsive kite though, so you need good kite control or will be punished for mistake...

Re: Pivot Unbaised Review. Good Kite For Surf?

I've briefly tested strapless in waves the following most recent kites: 7m Pivot vs 6m Slash 9m Slash vs 8m Enduro V2 9m Slash vs 9m Neo My findings riding these kites back to back: true wave kites, especially the Slash, you can completely shut off and forget by sheeting out, it really lets you ride...

Re: Used kite exploded in front of me and seller

A new LE bladder costs 120 USD or something like that I think. I would look elsewhere. And save up some more money to buy a decent, more recent kite in good condition. It's an expensive sport, so be prepared to splash some cash or find a cheaper hobby.

Re: My first long swim

Always good these type of stories on the forum, helps learn from each other's mistakes. I recognize the "oh the wind seems to be dying - it will probably pick up again / I have enough left for 1 more tack out and back"-scenario. I did the same thing last year, and no, the wind did not come back and ...
