Re: What's the dumbest thing you have seen a newbie do?

^^You can definitely wind your lines straight if you keep them tight. But if they fall off the bar, as was common back in the old days you were pretty screwed. Figure 8 is "safer". If you drop the lines off the bar for some reason they won't tangle.

Not me but my brother saw 3 tourons trying to launch. One holding the bar booted in, the other two throwing the kite into the air straight up and straight downwind from him. It went about as well as you would expect. Then they tried again roughly 100 feet down the beach.

Re: Boosting only one way

Ditto. I can really only send it goofy. Which is silly because I'm regular. :/ Just a factor of the places I learned only ramping up for goofy launches. Just practice, I'm *SLOWLY* getting better at regular, but it takes a while.

Re: new bar grip

^^Terminate with a full wrap of hockey or athletic tape. Those little stickers are worthless.

Re: new bar grip

I've had the best success with badminton racquet tape. Costs nothing, easy to apply, and lasts pretty well.

Re: Valve Delaminating/Repair - 2009 Best HP Nemesis

It the valves all start to delaminate I would rather just replace them with new valves, but until that happens I'm hoping a little Aquaseal bead might seal the leak. DO NOT DO THIS! EVER! Seriously. You'll just make a mess and ruin your kite. There is nothing wrong with the valve itself. Every manu...

Re: Valve Delaminating/Repair - 2009 Best HP Nemesis

Dunno what Stormsure is. I've used both Aquaseal and 3M5200. The 3M5200 is much thicker and a royal PITA to work with compared to Aquaseal. But it does stick. FWIW: I've got stupid dangerous kites from 1999 that I've repaired with Aquaseal and they still hold air. I occasionally think about flying t...

Re: Valve Delaminating/Repair - 2009 Best HP Nemesis

Search. Read. Valve always come off eventually. Use Aquaseal. They'll never come off again.*

*Assuming you follow step 2 above and repair them correctly.

Re: Knife - what to you think?

Similar, except that the trilobytes are triple the cost and don't appear to have DLC coated blades. Also, mine came with 2 spare blades. So, for $20 delivered I got 2 knives and 4 spare blades. Not too shabby.

Re: Knife - what to you think?

Not 100% sure it's EZCut brand, but the one I have came with a bunch of spare DLC coated blades. Super sharp and will never rust even after years of sitting in a salty pouch. ETA: Mine says EZ Diving on one side and Easy Diving on the other. DLC coated blades are in perfect shape after about 3 years...
