Re: fuselage fabrication

Can somebody please clarify this "galvanic corrosion" idea that I hear over and over again? For any current to flow there has to be a potential, and what is the source of this potential? Is it coming out from nowhere, defying the law of conservation of energy?

Re: Moving To Miami?

Here is the exact quote: "The mean sea level trend is 2.02 millimeters/year with a 95% confidence interval of +/- 0.18 mm/yr based on monthly mean sea level data from 1914 to 2016 which is equivalent to a change of 0.66 feet in 100 years." To add to that, earlier I cited IPCC projection, which is gl...

Re: Moving To Miami?

What Bloomberg&NYTimes&BBC and other Marxist press wont tell you is that it is 1mm/year rise, and scientists are looking hard to find any acceleration of the trend. Lol, its actually more than 1mm per year... OK 2.02 mm/year, big deal. A whopping 20 cm per century. Again, only climate explainers ca...

...Great news sources BBC, Public Broadcasting PBS, NY Times, LA times, Huffington post,Washington post. I severely cut on reading news lately and noticed improvement in mental health. What is interesting out there, left going nuts on #heTouchedMeToo and #russiaConnection? That is just debilitating...

Re: Drilling hardware

Boiling water worked for me too. However, in my case it was fuse-mast connection. In your case the mast is wrapped in a collar, therefore, conducting heat to the mast is more challenging. The goal is to warm up the mast, while bolts still keep room temperature. As alum is good thermal conductor it m...

Re: fuselage fabrication

If you slide and glue smaller diameter tubes inside each others, then you don't need them 1 m long. And 50 cm ones are much much less expensive. For 70 cm long fuse even 40 cm tubes would be OK. Then, I would sculpt the wings fuse connection areas with some additional layers of carbon, wrap it into ...

Re: quiz for armchair kite designers

Yes, the 50/50 is first approximation only. However, it can be argued that if you designed a bridle with say 90/10 tension split ratio at some junction, then it would be poor design, and the weaker loaded line can be eliminated altogether without affecting performance too much. Also, I would be very...

Re: quiz for armchair kite designers

On the bridles, I am not clear what your point it. t is all about where the load is, like you mention, and certainly different models have different advantages and disadvantages. I doubt many here will intuitively understand the difference. At the end of the day it is just moving point of effort ba...
