Hey Tom ! Stick with it , the router is so amazing when you start getting creative with it. I made some really cool inlays and carvings! Big learning curve, needs confidence. I'm thinking of that same machine . I am stuck believing that I need to use 1/2" bits which need a ER20 collet which necessit...

Re: tahoedirk

Hey Billie, I'm still alive and well! Still building,,, I took up winging recently so I've been finally putting my bigger foils through their paces . Ive grown fond of my 1250cm2 front wing and small sharp stabilizer. I've made a few wing boards and surfboards for my nutty kids (13 and 15) We are ha...

Re: How to build a carbon wing in a 2 part mold?

hey Faklord, your'e on your way! I'm guessing your'e making a wing... Don't over think your layup schedule. If you cut your cloth on a bias(45deg) then it will expand and contract to the curves of your mold nicely. This prevents the edges from being so fragile and is essential for fitting. Concentra...

Re: More wings, the hard way?

Finally getting to ride these wings! Yipee, after struggling with my 2 piece foil for over a year, I am back to mostly positive results. The two similar wings I made are working very well. I have a 580 and a 800 and they are quite similar. Previously I was making 500 cm2 wings . The bigger sizes are...

Re: Big wings

So far I have only put the 1300 through any paces, and mostly on a windsurfer barely powered on a kids 3m sail. It works well but I only have limited time and patience for tuning. My 11 yr old daughter could get it to lift off every time she tried last session!! yeah I'm proud. This bigger wing seem...

Re: Pigmenting epoxy

powderized street chalk, construction snap line chalk, pigmented mica powders all work very well. UV resistance is an issue for lighter and brighter colors

Re: Boogie

So the boogie board wasn't quite strong enough just in front of the Tuttle box. I took my skilsaw and cut the board lengthwise down both sides of the box. Next I filled the kerf with a couple layers of 20 oz uni (my favorite). That did the trick! Riding a strapless boogie board is a novelty indeed. ...

Re: Best way to make a prototype

If you are riding your own homebuilt hydrofoil you are probably an expert! I don't agree with all your points Plum , but someone asked for your input. Good job throwing it out there, all legit if you ask me! stab on the bottom for huge jumps? sure . 1/3 , 2/3 isn't as important as aoa or the stab it...
