Re: Mittens vs. 3 Finger Gloves vs. 5 Finger Gloves

Nice. Completely agree with you, JeromeL that glove choice is tougher and matters more than your feet. Can’t really use 6mm on your hands anyways. I use ION’s 3/2 claw gloves and don’t feel fatigue either (presumably the pre-curve does a lot here?) but could do with more protection from the wind. M...

Re: Mittens vs. 3 Finger Gloves vs. 5 Finger Gloves

What would you say is the best option out there for 5 degrees, 5 degrees air? My hands get very tired very quickly in for instance Rip Curls 7/5 mm mittens. That is what I need though as my fingers get very cold. Any gloves that keep warm but still are a compromise in regard to not getting too tire...

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

Let me anticipate the pedants ... blah blah sand bag blah stake in the ground blah. Sometimes I get out of the sea a long way from where I got in. I may get out quickly to avoid a squall and want to land my kite. YES a real self landing...all by yourself...and nothing else Was in a squall situation...

Re: Mittens vs. 3 Finger Gloves vs. 5 Finger Gloves

I have tried all, when it's not too cold I go 5 finger. I used to have 3 finger which are ok to close to freezing but full mitten are still warmer, the 3 finger claw the index is the weakest link in the whole setup. I found out that it's not the booties, wetsuit/drysuit, it's the gloves that really ...

Tether launch I have had some really big log move around when the trim powered up. Also bent one of those tether hook once. That's right he kite in 25+ doesn't really sit nicely on it's side. Maybe depends on kite.

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

I have used this technique for very long and never backfired. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGunSQnLc3s 30+kts, pretty gusty sometimes. When you get used to the technique you can steer the kite easily from the frontlines if it bounces a bit by gusty wind. Not recommended in stupidly overpowered w...

Re: Blowing 11mph Gusting 30mph

It's tricky we get 10-30, 15 to 35 at some spot, 20 to 40. I like when lull are at least 18 so I can use my 9m. The gust in my area aren't really sustained and doesn't feel that strong. So I usually can rig bigger. I can hold my kite pretty high so I try to get he smallest kite that can handle the l...

Re: broken line causes kite damage

one thing to consider is quality pulley so far never broke a line only pulley. sheavless pulley looks pretty neat, I wish there was option to upgrade pulley when you get a kite. I don't know if sheavless wear down bridle faster or not but at least no risk of sand getting stuck in pulley and breaking...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

Testing the SS3 currently. Almost perfect...like a cameramen...but have a problem with shaking videos...need to see what I can do to fix it...or which software can fix it. If I can solve this, it is the best you can have to film you more than just few times. maybe weigh down the tripod. In photogra...

Re: Soloshot 3 - soup to nuts review

About having someone filming you, you don't really need it if you have a semi offshore setup with a slick. my buddy just setup an iphone or gopro on a pole in an offshore slick: sand bar lagoon pond bassin small island offshore. inlet In those setup you pretty much always jump exactly at same spot s...
