Re: Please help Ruben Lenten - Cancer Diagnosed

The main sweetener in a sugar free red bull (and most other diet sodas) is Aspartame. There are many hundreds of studies on this artificial sweetener demonstrating its harmful effects. The Center for Science in the Public Interest’s (CSPI) Executive Director Michael F. Jacobson issued the following...

Re: Bridle technical question

Think about how a fifth line helps with relaunch. Then think how a "mini fifth" might, to a lesser extent, help the leading edge to slightly roll over downwind. There's a reason why ids Cabs (pre 2014), rrds, ocean rodeos, cores, all use at least 2 pulleys per side, and that is keeping the inner seg...

Re: Bridle technical question

Your fuel example is a bit extreme, of course that's not what I was talking about. Yes, the primary reason for pulleys is bridle tensioning at the whole sheeting range. Another is "mini-fifth" roll over, where 2 pulleys per side are required. As for relaunch, I have an old rrd vision which originall...

Re: Bridle technical question

kite relaunch has nothing to do with the bridle it's purely a function of the shape of the kite because when you relaunch nearly all the tension is on the back line or lines. Not so sure about this (except for reverse launch), of course one outside line is pulled really tight, but the fronts should...

That's great news, specially assuming it also means the kites won't need to have 2 pulleys per side anymore.

Re: Upwind/Downwind Technique?

What have you found are the best techniques for going upwind and downwind? Aside from rider weight and kite size and wing size and wind speed, what are the best practices? Say you are on a 15m Chrono and a Sword2 in 12-14 mph winds trying to get around a course. For upwind: How do you trim the kite...

Re: Upwind/Downwind Technique?

Yeah, that makes sense. So a lower aspect allows a faster transition from upwind to downwind, or deeper initial downwind angles. But , as the speed increases, a higher aspect kite would allow deeper sustained downwind angles. I'm starting to swallow it easier now :) I assume in that case the kite is...

Re: Upwind/Downwind Technique?

Ozchrisb said on another thread that the Chrono allows him to go much deeeper downwind than the Edge. I could understand a better vmg , but not a deeper angle, so am still trying to get my head atound that one.
