I use the 2673, attached tothe top of a REactor Spreader Bar. Instead of a release ring, I use a side release shackel, like the one warned about here. That way I have 2 releases in a row. I almost always self land in onshore conditions by taking the kite briefly to zenith and pulling the side pin re...

Greetings, Seems like some interesting discussion. I started on a Mossy ProKS 4 years ago. Tough beginners kite, but I did fine. Bought a Free air in 2 line. Seemed alot more stable. 4 lined it and was delighted at the difference. Sailed Airblasts for the last 3 years. Outstanding kites. Also X2 (no...

Greetings, Just thought I would jump into the fray. I have the 8.4 and 11.8 Airblsts, along with several other kites, including the 20M X2. I was extremely caught up in the hype about the X2, but found myself very disappointed. I have sailed the X2 about a hlf dozen times and have found that it take...

Rick, Excellent suggestion for the Snowkite forum. Thanks much. I can only give you info on my area. The airport is Burlington International (BTV). We sail on the frozen lake. Ususally lots of terrain and snow. Very flat, no obstacles. We have had consistent 30+mph winds the last couple of days so t...

Greetings, There doesn't seem to be much discussion of snowkiting in this forum. Is there another forum which has more info? Had a great session yesterday on the snowboard and an 8.4 Arc. I sail Airblasts and had forgotten how fun the Arc can be on snow. Not having to fumble with cold stiffened valv...

Greetings, I weigh 185 pounds and sail the Jarvis. I have been out in over 40 knots and have never felt the board was too big. I sail in gusty conditions and would rather have a board to push me through the holes than a baord for the gusts. THese boards handle tons of wind, so I don't think you woul...

I use this type of shackle on my center ine, instead of a steel ring. I then use a Wichard 2673 snap shackle attached to my spreader bar as my primary release. I like the idea of redundant shackles. I agree about the difficulty of opening the side pin release shackles under high load. The tip swivel...

I had the same problem with it releasing unintentionally. I afixed a small diameter bungie line parallel to the release line. I made it slghtly shorter than the release line, so that it would take up the shock of water splashing, crashes, and etc. It still releases just fine. I have not had it self ...
