Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hey Matt, I think you're right. When I was doing my research, all I saw was the Arapaho National Forest.

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: Snow kite up and speed fly down.

Ya, so a lot of times they call it combo'ing or combo kiting, here's a great example of some guys making it happen in Iceland. Looks like a blast:

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Anthony - sounds like you're getting some nice sessions over there - great to hear!

Matt - how are snow condition in your neck of the woods?

Recently, I've had a hankering to check out the west side of Berthoud Pass. I think Aaron and I might check it out on Friday.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Had a really nice session at Hoosier Pass on Saturday with my buddy Aaron. With about 6" of fresh snow, it was the best snow conditions I've had all year. Winds were better than average, around 14G28mph - a little holey but not punchy. I was on an 8m, my buddy was riding a 7m and having a blast doin...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Man, no kidding. The only snow I've seen this year is in post cards. So jealous. Way to get after it Anthony; sounds like a blast.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Anthony, do you have a lat/long for the lake so I could take a look at it on Google Earth. Unfortunately I have other family stuff going on today so won't be able to make it up there this time, but would love to check it out at some point.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Awesome Anthony, sounds like you're having fun over there. Ya, the Zeek is a low wind powerhouse - quite a bit of pull in 6kts. Honestly, I would probably recommend the 18m Matrixx though (that's the big purple kite you might have seen in some of my posts) - it's a little more user friendly and make...

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Hit up Rabbit Ears today. Oodles of powder up there, best snow conditions I've had in a long, long time. Winds were a bit patchy though.

Re: Kite-o-rado Snowkite Conditions

Saturday me and my buddy Aaron took a chance on Hoosier Pass, hoping the small storm from the night before might make it rideable. Expectations were pretty low but we did get rewarded with a few inches of blow powder and ended up having a pretty good time. Winds were pretty gusty and a bit tricky si...
