Re: Canopy Trinity by North... where to buy the original parts to do a repair?

I would contact North first, but the good news is the fabric was developed by Teijin so it should be pretty accessible.

Re: Foil kite resistance against hitting the water

Smacking any of the ribbed leading edge race kites into the sand will tear the fabric in contact with the rib. Buddy has a bunch of patches along the leading edge after he made this mistake. I would say that with experience flying foil kites, your kite skills get insanely better and smacking the kit...

Re: Risk vs reward... learning and progression at 40

Plenty of my kiting friends are aged between 40 and 75. Do what you love to do and be smart about it to minimize the chance of injury. Personally I'm not into a bunch or tricks - I treat foiling like personal sailing and just like to go far fast.

Re: Kite collapsing on itself during down loop !

This was the reason I moved away from switchblades. A few times I would collapse my smaller 7M and 9M switchblades. These kites were being used on stronger days and I was not comfortable with their behavior. Yes, they were inflated correctly and I have not had issues with other kite brands. I had no...

Re: Kite choices for foiling in high winds ?

However your smallest kite should be your best condition kite. For that kite you are taking out in the highest winds. You don't want to put your life in the hands of and old shitter that might easily fail. The stakes are high in high wind kiting. Make sure you have good gear. +1 Bar/Lines and Kite ...

Re: Low Aspect to High Aspect

The more foils you ride, the shorter amount of time it takes to learn/transition between foils. I prefer high aspect ratio foils for their speed and upwind performance. A session or two to get dialed into a new foil but riding a new foil on the first tack. Some foils are un-ridable/incorrectly set u...

Re: Anyone getting a single strut Switch Element for high wind foiling?

My only complaint with the Cloud was the trailing edge flap flap flap when the wind picked up. Without struts to help with stability, the trailing edge flapped like a flag. In higher winds I much prefer 3+ struts. Are you referring to the C5 clouds? Which sizes? The D clouds are a different breed w...

Re: Kite choices for foiling in high winds ?

Core Sections are what I use in high winds. IMO, wave kites have good gust handling chacteristics. I use the same bar with 5/7/9/12M Sections - I will likely reduce my quiver to 6/9/12.
