Re: vac pump (a fridge compressor) problem

Hi Kerry if is not about sealing the bag so much. The bag is sealed, sometimes better sometimes not so good. It is about topping the vacuum from time to time. If the pump is starting in ie 3-5 mins after being off, but vac holds only for 2-3mins, there is a risk of loosing a vac and destroying a pr...

Re: vac pump (a fridge compressor) problem

Hey Downunder,

Isn't it simpler to just fix your bag?

Also, if you get a slower curing resin, you'll relieve a lot of the time pressure and you'll give yourself more time to properly seal the bag.

Re: Latest Board, just in time for Cape Town

Very nice . Was the core cnc machined ? No. I've tried CNC'ing before, and it actually doesn't work. The process requires a lot of setup, so unless you want the ability to be able to "re-use" your saved setup files, its not in my opinion worth the effort. I shaped the rails by hand, using a belt sa...

Re: Latest Board, just in time for Cape Town

Got any more pics of the core ? Or the infusing ? Nice looking board Thanks. Sorry for the slow response, been crazy busy at work. Below is a pic of the core. I used a PVC foam, which I wont be using going forwards.I'll be using Airex for the next build, Airex is easier to shape cleanly. You can se...

Latest Board, just in time for Cape Town

Hi All, Just completed my latest build. Very happy with the result, hoping it rides as good as it looks!! :D Process was to precast skins using resin infusion on a pane of glass. Was quite a bit of work, but the result makes it worth it. Skin.jpg Skins were then placed on either side of the core, an...

Re: Vacuum Pump

Some ideas: http://chadmunkres.blogspot.co.za/2010/10/refrigerator-compressor-repair.html and Internal (in-built) protection system. which again is a bimetal current relay provided for the motor, is of little help for an ageing compressor. If. by any reason, the compressor is forced to re-start bef...

Re: Vacuum Pump

DSC05250.JPG Here's mine. That picture is a few years old. My daughter is 12 now!... Have you got a vacuum switch installed? That way the pump will turn on and off by its self and not over heat. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adjustable-Vacuum-Switch-Kit-700R4-200-4R-350C-Trans-6-22-Superior-K058-99412-/1...

Re: Vacuum Pump

Usually when a compressor makes buzzing sound and fails to start its a faulty capacitor but its weird that yours starts after a while... Check the capacitor (wired into the compressor) with a multimeter if its still OK. Fairly easy and cheap to replace. My other guess would be if the problem occurs...

Vacuum Pump

Check out my new vacuum pump setup, alla joethewoodworker. Includes a SMC vacuum switch to cycle the pump on when needed. Having one problem though, sometimes the fridge compressor doesn't cycle on for a minute or two. I can feel the compressor vibrating like it's trying to start up, but it takes a ...

Re: Braindead moments
